I thought he was mocking me until I looked in his eyes.
Zander was being genuine.
…And I’d never had a conversation with someone who actually seemed to get how my brain worked, before. Brynn and Tatum tried, but it was like Zander actually thought the same way I did.

In lists.
With logic, but a knowledge that logic couldn’t achieve everything I needed to achieve.
I didn’t want to think about the repercussions of us thinking the same way, though.
“So what do we do?” I asked him, honestly wanting an answer.
His lips curved upward. “You decide whether you’re more willing to feed me, or to let me feed from the crowd at the nightclub.”
I blinked.
Zander’s lips brushed my cheek in a quick, gentle kiss. “I’m going to join Bash. Text me when you make up your mind. If I don’t hear anything, I’ll assume feeding there is a go.”
He closed and locked the door behind himself, leaving me alone to think.
And pace.
And think some more.
And pace some more.
The minutes passed as I tried to make up my mind.
If I fed him, he’d be addicted to me. It was a permanent decision to connect myself to him that way.
But when it came down to it, if he got home from the nightclub and I knew he’d fed from someone else, I’d feel betrayed. And it would be my fault for not speaking up.
So, there was only one solution.
I let out a shaky breath, then sent the text.

My phone was open to her texts the moment we stepped toward the door of his office.
