This is the latter. Camille is in her first year of the Supernatural Enforcement Program, and she has been making amazing headway. She’s strong, fast, and smart. “Hey, Alpha,” I say to Samara, taking a big drink of my water bottle.

She wrinkles her nose. “I told you to call me Sam.”
“I’m just being respectful and calling you by your title.”
“Yes, well, I think it’s more respectful to call people what they ask to be called,” she retorts, and I chuckle.
“You’d think after almost a decade of being the alpha of the feline shifters on the island, that you would be used to the title.”
