“Greece.” I nod in understanding and rush back to my home with Narissa at my heels. It can’t be a coincidence that both my duty and my heart take me in the same direction. This has to be some kind of divine intervention. “Thank you, Artie,” I whisper to the wind. I know that if anyone was meddling on my behalf, it was her.

“They’re on the move,” Skarlyt says as I step through the door.

It is my house, but it no longer looks like it is. I live a minimalist lifestyle. I spend so much time in the water that I do not need as many material things on land. My livingroom, which once housed a singular couch and coffee table, has been converted into one of Skarlyt’s workshops. The room is unrecognizable with all of Skarlyt’s things spread around, including a large table covered in maps, jars full of ingredients, and a cauldron with a fire already under it. If she needs it for her spells, she has it here.

I’ve seen her do this to places before, but I can’t help but wonder how long it will take for my home to go back to normal.

“Where to?” I ask, and all eyes turn to me.

“They are still off the coast of Greece,” Skarlyt responds. “But they are going deep in the ocean. It’s almost like they’re following a boat.”

“That means we need to go now.” I look around the group, surprised to find it much larger than the one I left earlier. When I land on Mizu and Kristle, they nod in response.

“Here,” Rayne says, walking over to me and placing a phone in my hands.

“It won’t work underwater.”

“It will,” Drusilla interrupts me. She comes to stand next to her best friend. “Matt made it for you. Opal said you might need it, but she won’t tell us why.”

“That’s alarming,” I admit as I study the phone. It looks like a cell phone, sure, but not one from this decade. “How does it work?”

“It’s completely waterproof and can get a signal even underwater.” I hear Matt’s voice and find it coming from another phone that is held aloft by Phoebe.

“Really?” I ask excitedly.

“Yes. There is a depth limit of one thousand feet. As long as you’re above that, you should be good.”

“Thank you,” I say, not only to Matt but to the large group of people filling my living room.

“You’re a member of our pack, Pearl,” Alaric says, stepping up beside Phoebe and putting his arm around her.

“You are our family,” Sarah adds.

“Damn right, she’s family,” Breanne’s voice comes through the speaker of the phone. The touching moment is broken as we all laugh.

“I also made this,” Sarah says, stepping up with a backpack. “It’s lightweight, completely waterproof, and is spelled to hold way more than it looks like it can.”

“That way, you can bring clothes with you if you need them,” Alaric, adds.

Phoebe steps forward, offering me the phone in her hand.

“I haven’t been able to get you a high-quality camera on that thing yet,” Matt warns through the speaker. “If you can find a well-known spot for us to come to you, that would be helpful.”

“Okay,” I tell everyone, placing the phone inside the bag. Sarah was right, there's more than enough room for me to pack the clothes I'll need to cover the six people I plan to bring with me. “Kristle, Mizu, get Caspian, Autumn, Spring, and Summer. I will meet you at the beach.”

They nod, immediately rushing out the door and leaving me alone with my friends.

“Thank you,” I begin, emotion threatening to creep up my throat. I have never felt so supported as I do now. “Thank you for everything.”

Drusilla rushes to me and wraps me in a hug.

“You never have to thank us, Pearl. Your war is our war.”

“She’s right,” Andres adds, the giant dragon shifter coming into view just behind his mate’s slight frame. “None of us are okay knowing that a supernatural is being held captive by humans.”

I step back and dip my chin in acknowledgment before walking out the door.

“Come back or I’ll hunt you down,” Rayne calls out to me. I chuckle, waving her off with what she always refers to as a “one-finger salute.”
