He grins over at me, and I want to slap it off his handsome face. “You didn’t touch him, but the things you were saying...” He shakes his head and looks back over at the road. “I’ve never heard you talk like that.”

“Oh, god!” I groan into my hands, covering my face in shame. “Please, no more. If you say one more detail, I’m going to throw myself from this Jeep.”

“You will not!” He growls, and I peek over at him.

He’s not looking at me, though. His eyes are on the road, brows furrowed. “I wasn’t being serious,” I mumble.

“I don’t like hearing you talk like that.”

“Like what?”

“Anything to do with harming yourself. Joke or not.”

“Okay.” I look away, nibbling on my lower lip. This is new. Bishop has always been protective when it came to Bianca and me. He would threaten a guy once in a while, but Bianca jokes like this all the time. His response is to just roll his eyes and call her a drama queen.

So, why is he reacting like this when I’m talking the same way?

“What do you want to do?” I ask Bishop when we get into my parents' place.

“I’m open for anything. I love coming here. You guys are always doing fun things.”

“We could play video games, shoot pool, or go swimming.”

“Yes,” he says, grinning over at me as we stop in the kitchen.

“Yes?” I giggle. “Yes to which one?”

He shrugs and opens the fridge. “All of them.”

“Okay, then.” I laugh again.

Mom and Mama Rain are out at the grocery store with the twins. Toby and Theo went on some guys' day with Theo’s dad for his birthday. His grandma was going to throw a big party, but his grandpa didn’t want the big fuss, so they chose to go golfing and have dinner at the country club instead.

It’s so weird that we’re members of a friggin’ country club. Sometimes I forget we even have money. Other than the luxury of the house, we don’t live like we do. We don’t buy expensive clothes or electronics. My mom came from little and even though my dad, Brody, came into a lot of money after the death of my grandfather, Mom made sure that we grew up to be humble and to work for things in life. It’s why I got a job with her when I was old enough to work. And so will the boys when it comes time.

It’s not like we don’t spend any of it. Once a year we go on an elaborate vacation somewhere amazing. And all of our educations, cars, and future houses are paid for.

“Is anyone home?” Bishop asks.

“Some of my dads should be around here somewhere with Bennett,” I say, finding the house oddly quiet.

Shouting from outside in the backyard has me looking up at Bishop with a curious expression.

“Let’s go check it out.” He chuckles before jogging towards the back door.

When we get outside, I find my dads playing basketball. Chase has Bennett on his shoulders and both of them are laughing as a red-faced Brody glares at them. Jax looks done with the lot of them.

“What's going on?” I ask, looking between them.

They all look my way. “This asshole here is cheating.”

“Am not.” Chase grins. “You're just a sore loser.”

“You put our kid on your shoulders so he could get it in the net.”

“I don’t know what you're talking about. I did no such thing.”

I bite my lower lip, trying to hide my grin. Chase lives to rile up Brody.
