As soon as Antonio hits the ground, Emerson is on him. He starts pounding into him, screaming at his father. “You will not take what's mine.” Blood splatters everywhere. “My man, my woman, my fucking child!”

I just stand there, satisfaction filling me that the two of them are dead. I have no remorse for a woman who stole my child and a man who would have let her get away with it because there was a chance I was the father.

“Emerson!” Scarlett’s shouts snap me out of the daze of watching my man go savage on his dead father’s corpse.

Emerson gets to his feet, his shoulders rise, his chest heaving and fuck me he looks so damn edible covered in blood.

“Come with me,” is all he says as he storms out of the kitchen. We follow after him to his office. Sitting down at his desk, he opens his laptop. “I put a tracker on that bastard’s car years ago because he’s always been slimy. Wherever he is right now, we’re going to fucking find him.”

He types a few things and up pops this map. There's a little car that shows up on the screen. “What the hell is he doing?” I murmur.

“No idea, but the app shows he’s been sitting in the same spot for the last hour, just a few fucking blocks down the street!” Emerson roars. “We need to get moving, now.” He closes his laptop and tucks it under his arm. Still covered in blood, he storms toward the door. “Let’s go get our baby.

Don’t worry little one, your mommy and daddies are coming for you.

SCARLETT

I’m trying, really trying to hold myself together, but it’s hard. The hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, because my daughter is gone. Some strange, evil man took her. And I’m seconds away from breaking because there could be a chance we won’t get to her in time and god knows what Rueben has planned for our baby. Why? Why would someone do that to a baby? She’s just a fucking baby! She didn’t do anything to anyone.

My hands shake, Bonnie’s blood still on them, staining my skin red. There will be unseen scars that remain and I’ll wear them proudly because that monster had it coming to her. There’s not a doubt in my mind, she was the one who tried to kill me. Maybe not her directly, but she's working with Rueben, he was the one to do it.

“He’s on the move. But we’re close to being on his ass,” Emerson mumbles, his eyes on the road as he navigates the streets with precision and speed.

My body trembles, still high on the adrenaline that killing a person gave me. I never thought I’d take another life, but I don’t regret it. Not one fucking bit.

Closing my eyes, I try to ignore the ache in my breasts and hold back my tears. They’re leaking, painful, and full because we missed a few feedings. I pumped earlier but it’s not the same but I guess when she comes home we’ll have some milk stored for baths or maybe I can convince the guys to get us all breastmilk jewelry. God, Lucy must be so upset and hungry.

“Shhh.” Alistair rubs my back. He sat in the back seat so he could be there for me and I thank him for that. I need him. My hand squeezes his tightly.

“The car stopped.” Emerson picks up speed. “Only two blocks away.”

My heart pounds in my chest. The closer we get, the more I feel like I’m going to puke.

We pull into an abandoned warehouse. Two cars are parked side by side as two men stand next to them.

Then I see her. Ruben passes my baby, my fucking baby, over to the other man.

Emerson slams on the brakes, not even bothering to put it in park before he’s out of the car, gun drawn. Alistair is quick to follow. “Stay here,” he tells me before joining Emerson at his side.

“Like the fuck I am,” I mutter and get out.

“You stupid fucking fool!” Emerson roars, slowly walking toward Ruben. “You think you can take my fucking daughter? How fucking dare you touch what's mine.”

Emerson’s gun is on Ruben, while Alistair points his at the other man who’s holding my fucking baby.

“Lucy,” I whisper, the tears finally falling as I hear her wails fill the air. She’s screaming her little lungs out. “Give me back, my baby!” I sob.

“What the hell is going on here?” A new voice sounds. We didn’t even hear another car pull up.

My eyes flick over to see a young, blonde woman getting out of a car.

“Carmella. What the hell are you doing here?” Emerson snarls when she gets into his view.

“This is my turf. When I heard about something going down without my permission, I came to catch it in action.” She tilts her head to the side as she approaches the man who is holding Luciana. “Alejandro. Why do you have a baby in your arms?”

“Miss.” He trembles, his eyes flicking from her to Rueben and back. “It’s not what it looks like.”

“So you're telling me you weren’t about to take my fucking daughter!” Emerson roars.
