But I hold off.

No need to make it messy, and Hollyn is the kind of girl who wants a relationship. Not a one-night stand and no promises of anything more.

“Will you take me to grab my car tomorrow?”

“Sure.”

“And I’ll make you breakfast.”

“How about we eat the pizza first?”

She rolls her eyes, but a ghost of a smile illuminates off her face. Ping. “He asked what that means.”

“Wait for your show to end, and then text him back. Tell him that it’s nothing much and that I’ve been helping you out with a few things. You should tell him you're making me breakfast in the morning for all the things I’ve been doing to you.”

Her blue eyes fly up to mine. “To me?”

“Exactly,” I smirk because let’s see if Weston can read between those lines.

The dumbass.

“You’re evil, Reid Pierce.”

“With a girlfriend, apparently.” I wave my cell in the air. “Did you see the headlines?”

“Saw them,” she drones. “And it’ll blow over. It’s not like anyone is going to believe them long.”

“Why do you say that?”

“Because a professional hockey player isn’t going to settle down with a nerdy girl who doesn’t know crap about the game.”

“Maybe it’s because I want to teach you.”

She shakes her head at me and tosses her phone to one side of the couch. “Not believable enough.”

“The media makes their own stories.”

“Don’t you date like supermodels or something?”

I return my focus to my cell. “No.”

“Actresses.”

“Hell no.”

“Nurses?”

My nose scrunches. “Random as hell.”

“With the amount of craziness you inflict on the ice, I’m sure you’ve received your fair share of cuts and bruises.”

“It’s a little more violent than that, but I don’t date the staff on the team.”

“The women in the stands with the signs?”

“What signs?”

“Oh come on,” she cajoles with amusement in her tone. “You didn’t see them in the stands? You weren’t even playing, and they showed up for you.”
