He looks down shyly. “I was afraid you wouldn’t think it was a good gift, since you might not be Scrooge for much longer.”

“Yeah, well, I’ll always be your Scrooge. It’s the perfect gift, baby, really. Thank you. Now, it’s time for your gift.”

“Oh, is it good?” He makes a show of rubbing his hands together, and I chuckle.

“Here, let me get dressed and I’ll go get it. Unless you want to go with me?”

“I’d love to go. I want to see your apartment.”

Moving him from my lap, I hurry to the room to get dressed. I hear a laugh and a shout of glee, so I run out of the room with one leg in my sweatpants. “What is it?”

I find Dylan standing by the window, hands on under his chin. “It’s snowing, baby.”

Looking over his shoulder, I see he’s right. During his heat, we barely looked outside. Now there’s a fine layer of snow on the ground about three feet high. It’s untouched, fresh snow and more is still falling. It’s like everyone decided to stay inside and not disrupt this beautiful spectacle.

“It is like a snow globe,” I mutter in his ear, wrapping my arms around his middle and placing my chin on his shoulder. “It’s beautiful. More beautiful because I get to spend this time with you.”

Dylan turns his face towards me and kisses me soundly before turning back to the window.

We stand there for minutes more, watching the snow fall and I continue to fall more and more for my omega.

“Come on,” I tell him, kissing the back of his neck. “I’ll get you some coffee so we can sit and talk here. We can spend the day at the window if you want?”

“I’d love that.”

I pull up a chair for him to sit down and I go about making us some coffee. When I have his mug ready, I hand it to him with a smile. “I never thought I’d be doing things like this again, let alone on Christmas.” His eyebrows scrunch questioningly and I hold up a finger, signaling for him to wait.

After I get my coffee ready, I sit beside him and watch his profile as he stares at the winter wonderland before him. “To answer your question,” I say as he turns to me, “I didn’t think I would want to even get out of bed on Christmas. It’s been so deeply ingrained the past few years that I hate it. But today, I feel good. Even when I saw the date, I didn’t feel the need to hide under my blankets.”

Dylan smiles and sips his coffee. “Damn, I might really have to change your name.”

I shrug self-consciously. “I still don’t like Christmas movies.”

My mates rumbling laugh warms my insides. “Yeah, well, we can’t win them all. That’s okay though, baby. I can always sneak a movie in while you’re at work.”

I grin back at him, shaking my head. “That could work. Or I’ll suck it up and watch one with you. Just one,” I say when he turns to me happily, eyes dancing with excitement.

“One a week,” he counters.

“One a month and you have a deal.”

Dylans shouts again with glee and sets his coffee mug down before he launches himself at me. “This is the best Christmas ever.”

“Bet I can make it better,” I mutter.

“Unless you have some dinner cooking, I don’t know how.”

Taking a deep breath, I pull back until he’s looking at me. “Marry me.”

Dylan rears back, mouth open. “What? Marry you?”

Swallowing hard, I nod. “Yes. We’re fated mates, but I want the whole thing. I want to pledge my life to you in front of our family and friends. I want to be with you forever. I want to always be yours. So yeah, marry me.” Dylan’s mouth opens and closes, so I continue to talk. “I know it’s fast. I know we barely know each other; I know I’m still a little fucked up from my past. But I know what I want. I know I want you, forever or for as long as you’ll have me. So … what do you say?”

“I say fuck yes! What took you so long, Scrooge?” Dylan throws his arms around me, hugging me and laughing gleefully.

I join in, holding him as tight as I can without hurting him. “It’s only been two weeks, baby.”

“Thirteen days too long in my opinion,” he whispers and my heart swells. I definitely got lucky when this omega picked me out of all the Scrooges that could have walked into his bar.
