“Do you know where she is?” We've been flying for a good hour, none of us speaking till I break the tension.

“No, son!”

“Is she okay?”

“No, son!”

“Is she safe?”

“No, son!”

After a while longer. “Bernie, will you help me find her?”

“No, son!”

“Bernie?”

“Look, Steel, I'm not being awkward. She specifically asked that we don’t step in and that we don’t interfere. She has a mission that only she can do, but we need to let her deal with it on her own. I don’t like it, but I have to respect it!”

I make it to the solicitors and contest the divorce. I make it with an hour to spare; once I’ve put a stop to the divorce, I now have to find Ray.

I’m gonna have to be smart about this. I will have to be brave and strong, and most of all, I will have to prove that I won’t let her down ever again. I don’t know what’s going on. Bernie and Marie won’t tell me, but I know they know! I know they know everything while I know nothing, so I’m gonna have to get help from my brothers. I just wonder if any of them still want to help after she set fire to everything. I can’t blame her, though, in the end. “We did make our beds, and we should lie in them.”

Well, we could if she hadn’t burnt them all. I do wonder how much damage she really wanted to do though I suspect she got everyone out safely and I know she kept the girls safe, so I need to speak to them. They obviously had some interaction with her while she was there. Did she plan that, or was she caught? Also, if she wanted to burn the clubhouse down, she could have done it. I didn’t even go and look at the damage. I didn’t care enough, but I need to check everything out when I get back.

I make it back to the clubhouse, and the bike’s still in the centre of the parking lot with her cut laid across it, the stab mark straight into the tank. I walk over and glide my fingers across the supple leather. Leaning down, I pick up her badges, the “Enforcer” one and “Reaper”, and slide them into my pocket. I take the cut in my hands and bring it up to my face. Closing my eyes, I smell it. It smells like petrol and citrus and something woodsy, just like her. Breathing her in, I don’t know how long I stay like that.

“You okay?” I turn, and Dice is standing a few feet away.

I shrug. “Fuck knows, Dice?” I look over at the parking lot to the big white lettering. “How bad is it in there?”

“She set fire to everyone’s bed! Well, everyone who doubted her, some she left untouched and Barbie’s left.”

“What do you mean?”

“She didn’t touch his room, but he said we were supposed to be a brotherhood, and if Ray was ‘one of the boys’, she wouldn’t have been doubted. He didn’t want to stay in a place where we could turn on our own. He left his cut, took his stuff and left.” He shrugs, “Everything’s so fucked up. Most of the guys are in your apartment. She dragged your mattress out, threw it off the balcony, and set fire to that, but the rest of the place is fine.”

“We really screwed her over, huh?”

“Fucking understatement, Brother! You and me hurt her the worst. I know it, you know it, so what the fuck are we gonna do about it?” He just stands there, waiting like I have all the answers. I know fuck all.

“Let’s try and find her. I’m gonna need your skills. Bernie won’t help; he says he can’t. I’ve managed to stop the divorce, so it’s a start.”

“If nothing else, that’s gonna piss her the fuck off. Hopefully, she’ll come back to try and kill you. At least we will see her that way.”

“Erm, thanks, man. Let’s hope she comes back but not to try and kill me. That would totally suck. Come on, let's get that computer fired up!”

As we walk into the clubhouse, I take in all the damage. Actually, she was very strategic, almost like she wanted to prove a point without actually destroying everything. I wonder how much of this was for revenge and how much was to piss us off so we would leave her alone and turn us against her. Dice shows me his room, and the hose from the fire service did the most damage. She’d only set the beds on fire. I suppose the message outside makes perfect sense now. The rooms are filled with smoke damage, but the water caused the most issues. Fuck, what is she thinking? I hope I can get her back.

We walk into the tech room, and Dice fires up the computer. “Where shall we start?”

“Can you hack the clinic? I wanna know what damage she sustained and what they put her through. Do we know who took her and what happened yet?”

“We don’t know anything. I’ll start with the clinic, though, and I’ll set up an alert in case they access her records for anything else.”

After a few minutes, he shakes his head, “What’s up?”

“I don’t know if you really wanna know.”
