“Yeah, what do you need?”

“You're taking him home?”

“Yeah.”

“Is that wise after everything? I mean, we heard the stories.”

“You don't need to worry yourself about that.”

I turn to leave. “Ray,” he whispers out. I turn and glare at him. “We've known each other for a while now, and I owe you. I thought we were friends. I'm just worried about you.”

I sigh. “Look, Rook, I appreciate it, but I need to do this. I picked your team because you're on it, and to be honest, I needed someone I could trust to follow me blindly. Will you do that for me…” I step forward and touch his arm. “Elijah?”

“Fuck, Ray, you’re pulling that card, huh?” he chuckles and shakes his head. “Fine.”

“Is that guy fine or girl fine?” I smile back.

He shakes his head. “Guy fine.”

“Awesome.” I turn to walk away.

“Ray?” I turn back as he steps forward, “are you ok?”

“I'm fine.”

“Is that guy fine or girl fine?” He smiles back.

“Girl fine!”

He sweeps me into his arms and hugs me. I stiffen at his touch but then sigh.

I whisper into his ear, “Thanks, Elijah.”

“I've got you, you know that.”

I take a step back.

“So, Black Queen, what are our orders?”

I smile at him. I appreciate the not lingering on the sensitive situation, and I appreciate that he will have my back. I also appreciate him not treating me like I'm going to break or have a mental breakdown after everything.

“We will transport him out of here Friday. I will need you all. I’m expecting some issues at the club when I arrive back. They're not gonna be happy about this. I need to get him set up and settled. It's gonna be a long few weeks. I’ve got everything set and don't need to leave him for about four weeks. You five are the only ones who know what’s happening, and I want to keep it that way.”

“You sure about this? You sure you can do this in your condition?”

“I'm doing this for them. I'm more determined than I’ve ever been. I can do this. I need to do this.”

He nods. “Okay, then. I’ll let King know on shift change, and we will make a plan for Friday.”

I nod and turn away. Friday… Friday can't come soon enough.

It's Friday, and only me and Foxtrot 5 know what’s happening. We're all outside the room as the doctor arrives. I give the boys a nod. “You know what to do?”

They all nod back. They're in full tactical gear, armed and ready. I hope I don't need them, but it pays to be prepared. My brothers don't know we're coming, but as soon as they see us, they will scramble, and I need to get where I'm going before they get in the way.

I step into the room with the doctor. “Hi.” He smiles from the bed.

“Hi, ready to go home?”
