“I love them all.” I admit and start to cry. “And this baby is making me so emotional.”

“Stop, oh, stop. Stop. Come on, let’s get you out of that dress, and we can do ice-cream and chocolate and sob our hearts out.” Hazel’s eyes shine with her own tears. “Kandi won’t talk about Sven’s little Sven anymore. Promise.”

Kandi laughs. “Fine.”

“Kandi and I will do a run to the shops to bring back essentials.” Missy gets up and winks at me. “Have no fear, Pack Raptore’s here.”

I snort a laugh through the tears and wipe my eyes. “You can not ever say that again to, like, anyone.”

She laughs. “Darion about died when I said it on the phone to a customer. I’m not allowed to touch the work phones anymore.” She waggles her eyebrows. “I’m devastated, naturally. Lukas is fuming because he’s now the desk bitch.”

I’m still laughing as they disappear.

She helps me out of the dress, and we curl up on the couch.

“What are you going to do?” Hazel asks quietly when they’re gone and the room is silent.

“What would you do?”

Hazel is quiet for so long that I’m not sure she’s going to answer, and then she turns to me. “I know who my pack is. I met them once five years ago. They don’t want me. They have made it clear they don’t want me. If I were you and the pack I loved were trying a fifth as hard as they are to get me to forgive them, I would already be home.”

“I’m a female alpha.”

Hazel snorts and rolls her eyes. “That line is getting old. Barren is a male omega. You’re perfect for each other.”

“But-“

“But what? Do you think love is easy? We all have our issues and problems. Your first pack were losers, absolute toss bags. You could have done so much better, but you let what other people think mess with you up here.” Hazel slaps my head. “This pack loves you.”

“You don’t know that.”

Hazel sits back, her expression mutinous. “Yes, I do.”

I turn slowly. “You’ve seen them?”

“Yes. I have, and they are disgustingly, sappily, revoltingly in love with you. Scarlet, seriously, life is short, and love, whether it works or doesn’t, should be fought for. You, and them, you don’t find that every day. Trust me, I’ve been watching society and pack meets for years. I said the same thing to my idiot brother when he fucked up with his omega. Go find your damn pack member and fix it, no matter the cost.”

I open my mouth to respond, but a knock on the door interrupts me. I get up and pull the door open to find a man with five letters.

I take them and sit down on the couch.

“Do you want me to read them?” Hazel asks.

I shake my head. “I think I need to do this alone. I’ll be back.”

Her gaze follows me as I go into my bedroom and close the door.

I open a letter at random and instantly know it’s from Bar.

I need you. I love you. I will marry you, fight them for you, be your all for you. I’m so sorry I didn’t fight harder. That my past caused you so much pain. Forgive me.

Love, your omega.

I lift the paper to my face and inhale, scenting the oranges. I wipe my tears away and put the paper down. The next one I open has thick, aggressive handwriting.

Red,

I am sorry. So sorry. More sorry than you will ever know.
