Taylor closes his eyes and shakes his head. “Because I needed to find where they were staying. Erase all traces of them.” Taylor snaps. “We needed to make sure no one ever looked at you.”

I glare at him. Completely insane. Why do I love it?

Gold stalks towards me. “Those gifts were promises of the future. What you deserve. This house is another, and just try to run from me Red, I dare you. I told you already, I’m not letting you go.”

His fury and obsession are clear in his eyes. The hairs on my neck rise, and I have to bite my lip not to challenge him.

“We hunted you down, Little Red,” Gold growls, seizing my hair and tilting my head back so I’m staring at him. “We found you. We claim you. We’re not a pack without you. You belong to us now.”

He pauses.

Taylor grips my chin, tilting my head until I’m staring at him. “I’m going to place my mark,” his finger trails down the right side of my neck, “right here.”

I shudder as his eyes close, and he leans forward and lathes his tongue over the skin.

“You want me to be pack? You want to mark me?”

“Yes, Scarlet Waring. We want you to be with us forever? Pack marks, pack bonds, ceremonies, everything that comes,” Taylor says with a grin.

I stare at them as it sinks in. They want me.

“You don’t ever do that to me again!” I warn. My heart’s jumping. I feel like I’m standing at the edge of a cliff.

“Never,” Barren confirms. “Ever.”

Still, I hesitate, looking around at them. The last lingering bits of pain force me to remember those horrible words and days alone. My eyes find Acton’s. All I can see is his honest longing, the same fear of rejection in his eyes, and I find the confidence I’m lacking.

“I should probably mention that it’s not just me joining.” I blush and look at Bar, whose eyes drop to my stomach.

He shouts out and lifts me up, spinning me around. “I knew it!”

I nod. He pulls me down and hugs me tight.

I look over my shoulder at the others and grin at their pole-axed expressions.

“I think we broke them.”

Bar glances at them and looks down at me. “Good.”

He sweeps me up and runs out of the room. I laugh as I hear the others call out. But then we enter a room, and I pause to look around. It’s red, a deep crimson colour. Silks and velvets and satins. Pillows and blankets everywhere.

“Um, this is very red.”

“It’s my new nest.”

I scowl. Oh, no, we’re changing this. “Very garish.”

“Hey! Don’t judge me. Besides, you're the one matching it right now.”

He pushes me back, and I land on a blanket with a soft thump.

“Alpha.” He growls. “I’m very mad at you.”

“Are you?” I ask breathlessly, watching as he strips out of his clothes.

“Those sexy dresses and skirts with those heels. Watching you eat and drink alone. Being so close and not being able to touch you.” He pins my arms above my head. “Don’t move your hands.”

“I’ll hold them,” Gold says and pins my wrists. He dips his head down and kisses me hard. “I’m sorry I hurt you.”
