I fall into step with him as he walks. “Okay, I’ll bite. What am I doing today?”

“Well, every so often, the weather is so shit that even Taylor has to admit he can’t work in it. On those rare and miraculous days, we watch movies together.”

“You and Taylor?” I ask, confused.

“All of us.”

“Oh!”

“And you’re coming.”

“No, I don’t want to intrude.” My protest is swift and certain.

“I was sent down to fetch you. Coax you, bribe you, blackmail you, whatever it took.” He leans in, holding a hand up and squinting around before whispering in my ear, “The vote was that Bar couldn’t be trusted to deliver the message and keep his clothes on. So here I am. Sexiest delivery man alive at your service, ready to do whatever I need to get your agreement.” He waggles his eyebrows. “Seriously, whatever you need.”

I snort a laugh to cover the heat that sentence has provoked. He puts an arm over my shoulder and nuzzles my hair. I freeze, my breath catching in my throat.

“Come watch movies with the pack?” he whispers in my ear. “Please, come with me?”

Holy hell! I’m going to go up in flames. I can barely think straight.

I shake my head. Jet growls and drops his arm.

He spins me around, backing me up against the wall, and leans over me. His eyes are hooded, as he stares down at my lips.

“I would like to kiss you now, gorgeous girl.”

Fuck, how does one say no to that?

“You don’t have to come to the movie, just…I need to know what you taste like. I spent most of last night wondering. I just need to know…”

I lick my lips nervously and jerk my head in a quick nod. I expect the kiss to be hard, but he takes his time, lowering his mouth to mine, and then kisses me with excruciating slowness, like he’s savouring every moment. Jet really is like sunshine. Warmth creeps into my veins, into my soul. My body feels light, and I find myself clinging to him.

I hear Gold’s words in my head but push them aside.

“Jet, come on.” Bar whines. “That’s not fair.”

I smile into the big alpha’s mouth. He dives in for another quick kiss then pulls back with a groan, turning to Bar.

“Yes, it is. You got more than a kiss.”

Bar looks between the two of us and then slips between us, gripping my arm and all but dragging me down the hallway.

“You can sit with Acton.”

I, wait! What?

He drags me into the room and pushes me towards the huge alpha. When I stumble to a stop, staring at Acton, he glances at me and frowns. His thick thighs are spread wide and clad in jeans that have tears. Catching sight of the small amounts of flesh makes my heart beat faster, staring feels wrong, but it takes a moment too long to force myself to look away. A white singlet stretches across his barrel chest, not covering enough. Is it hot in here? The big alpha frowns deeper, linking his fingers and cocking his head to the side.

Bar tugs my wrist, pulling until I all but fall on the big alpha.

My face burns, and I can’t look him in the eyes. I’ve got my knee in between his legs, thankfully not crushing anything, and my arms on either armrest. He sighs, looks to the side, and gives Barren a hard look.

Barren beams back at him and, laughing, goes to jump on Gold and Jet, who are sitting on the couch. The latter winks at me and gives me a smile that makes my heart stutter. Taylor has the only other chair in the room.

I glance at Acton and swallow hard. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay.”
