Page 72 of The Real Deal

Fear started to build as she obeyed and took his hand. He led her to what he called the playroom. It was filled with toys and games, racks and swings, restraints, and a plethora of sex toys. She hated this room.

He led her to a locked cabinet, pulled a set of keys from his pocket, and unlocked it. Inside was a laptop. He opened the lid, keyed in a string of commands, and images appeared on the screen.

Georgie panicked and tried to run, but Josh yanked her back to him. "Let's see what you've been up to, shall we?" He toggled through the different camera views. How had she not noticed cameras in all the rooms? This was not good. Not at all.

Her heart sank as he started the video playback. There she was, taking the iPad from its hiding place, typing away on the screen. They watched until she shoved the iPad back into its hiding place.

"Well, let's see what you've been doing, shall we?"

Georgie bit back a grunt of pain when he grabbed hold of one pigtail and nearly dragged her to the bathroom. "Sit." He pointed to the toilet as they entered the room.

She lowered the lid and did as ordered while he retrieved the iPad. Georgie thanked whatever gave her the idea of setting up a smoke screen in case he found it.

Sure enough, he opened the browser. He stared at the screen for a few minutes, then turned to her. "Would you care to explain what you've been doing?"

"Looking for a surprise," she replied. "I know how much you like to dress me in pretty outfits and all the toys you like to use on me, so I thought maybe I could buy some as a surprise, but then I realized I don't know the address here, so thought I'd wait and ask you, but… well, here we are. So, what do you think?"

Josh hurled the iPad across the room. It smashed into the mirror above the sink, cracked it, and bounced onto the countertop and then to the floor. "I told you no electronics. None!"

"It was already here, and I didn't use my name or place an order, so what's the big deal?"

The moment the words were out of her mouth, she realized her mistake. It wasn't so much what she said as how she said it. He grabbed her by the hair and yanked her to her feet. "Don't you ever speak to me in that tone again, do you understand?"

She was so tired of him, so tired of being scared and abused and didn't think. She fell out of character before considering her actions. "For crying out loud, Josh, get a grip. This game is fun, but you're taking it too far."

"Josh? Did you call me by my name?"

The way his face reddened and the veins on his forehead stood out, she thought he would have a stroke. Instead, he yanked her head to the side with one hand and, with the other, slapped her so hard that lights danced before her eyes.

"I can see you've forgotten your place, little girl." He dragged her to his playroom and slung her across the room. Georgie crashed into one of the tables, and he had hold of her before she could right herself.

"No." She resisted when he tried to rip her clothes off." Stop!" she pushed at him.

"Don't tell me no, you bitch. You behaved terribly and will take your punishment."

"No!" She wouldn't. Not again, not ever. Georgie punched him in the gut. "Let go of me!"

That was a mistake. Ten minutes later, she was retching on the floor, heaving her guts out from the three punches she received.

She fought with every ounce of strength and energy she possessed, but in the end, he had more power, a longer reach, and thought nothing of inflicting pain. In fact, it made him rather gleeful.

When she lay panting, bleeding, and in pain on the floor, he stood over her and grinned. "Ready to have some more fun?"

She couldn't answer. His idea of fun was using all the pain-giving implements at his disposal to torture her. She wasn't sure how much more of it she could take. All she could do was pray she made it until six thirty in the morning and that the message was valid. Riggs was coming.

One after another, scenarios crowded his mind, playing out in awful detail. All the things that maniac Josh had done to other women and might do to Georgie. His guts were in a knot, and his body vibrated with rage and fear. Riggs looked over at Gunner, who drove the vehicle. They were two hours away from the device's location that sent the message they believed was from Georgie.

"We'll get her back, bruh," Gunner offered support.

"I'm going to kill that bastard if he's hurt her." Riggs didn't speak those words as an empty threat. He fully intended to carry them out. It wasn't until he was without Georgie that it hit him how much she meant to him and how deeply he felt about her.

He was crazy in love with her. She'd become his confidant, his friend, almost his lover, and the love of his life in just a few short months. He wasn't going to let that bastard Josh take her.

"We'll do what it takes," Gunner agreed. "But listen up, partner, we don't kill for sport, pleasure, or revenge. We kill to survive or save others. You can't go against the code, or you're as bad as him."

Riggs wanted to argue or tell Gunner to shut up, but how could he? Gunner was right. No matter how much he wanted to plant a knife in the man's chest and watch the life seep out of him, he'd do what was right. It was their code, and he'd be damned if he'd let a lowlife like Josh anger him into betraying it.
