“Coop!” She smacks me playfully. “That’s not why I woke you. Come, and have a look at the stars.”

“You woke me because of the stars?” I lean up on one elbow and rub sleep from my eyes with my other hand. “I would have preferred another round in bed in that case.”

“Come on, Coop.” She moves beyond my reach and steps out onto the terrace. Her hair sways in the breeze. I crawl from between the sheets and slip on shorts we bought yesterday at the airport, along with a whole lot of other beach outfits.

“And turn off the light,” she calls out before I join her. I flip the switch and walk barefoot onto the wooden panelling covering the terrace floor.

“Look,” she says and points up at parts of the Milky Way, clearly visible in the moonless night.

I slide my arms around her waist from behind and place my chin on her shoulder.

“Almost as beautiful as you.”

“That’s a cheesy line, Coop, you can do better,” she giggles.

“Okay, the stars are nice but I prefer looking at you.”

“Coop,” she whines, but snuggles deeper into my arms. “Thanks for bringing me here.”

“Hey, thank the snow gods. Without them we would be in Coal’s Lake now.”

“It might be quite nice, though. Snow, open fire, hot chocolate.”

“I hate hot chocolate, and you would have frozen to death looking at the stars in just your nightie and—” My fingers slide under her top. “Okay, apparently only your shirt. Where are your knickers, baby?”

“Nobody here but you, and I’m pretty sure that by now you know what I look like down there.”

“Indeed,” I groan and slide a finger inside her. Lizzie moans quietly.

“Coop, wait.” I add a second finger to the first one. She is wet already and my fingers slide in and out easily.

“Coop, wait, I’ve got to tell you something.”

“Okay, sure, but tell me quick because I think I just got a second wind and I want you on my cock again.” I place a long kiss on her lips.

“I love you,” she whispers, but loud enough for me to hear. I remove my fingers from her and suck them clean.

“Say that again,” I turn her to me so I can see her face.

“I love you,” she nervously nibbles on her bottom lip.

I grin, place my shoulder in her stomach and lift her off the floor. Lizzie squeals and lightly slaps my bottom, but that doesn’t stop me. Hearing her say those three words I've been waiting for, I just want to take her to bed and show her what we've been missing. She's my heaven on earth.

LIZZIE

The lift slowly moves from floor to floor. Why Coop has to have his bloody office on the top floor of this building is beyond me. It’s just pretentious, if you ask me, but Coop and his partner Ben worked hard for their portfolio and I guess they want to show the world that they belong to the upper class.

Coop and I have been officially dating for a year now and the only thing we ever argue about is money. He wants me to spend his and I refuse. I recently discovered that I have a knack for creating social media posts and am in the process of completing a course on it. I now offer my services on a freelance website in addition to my day job as shop supervisor. He thinks it's ludicrous that I won’t let him help me, but I’m used to doing everything myself.

When the lift finally reaches the top floor, I’m the only one left in it. The doors slide open and I am greeted by Gladys, Ben and Coop’s personal assistant, who also mans the reception on their floor.

“Hello, Lizzie,” she greets me with a smile as I wheel my suitcase from the lift.

“Hi. Please tell me he is ready,” I say, my breath a little laboured from trying to make the suitcase budge. Okay, I may have gone overboard again, but this time we are going for three weeks. A woman needs choices.

“He should be. He’s with Ben at the moment.” She nods to one of the offices.
