There are many things I deal with from time to time, but I’ve never had to deal with the fact that I am going to have an heir to the family business. In my family, that’s an honor, and I’m hoping that with time, Penny and I may become amicable in the marriage.

There’s definitely an attraction between us, which I won’t easily deny if she is open to it. She switched to a very business-like tone when we talked yesterday, and while I appreciate that, I hope she’ll come to soften it up when it comes to our relationship. We can have a beautiful and pleasurable future together.

I have a pesky little problem to deal with while my driver goes to collect Penny, but then I can head home to make sure she settles in nicely.

I have the staff waiting to cater to her every whim, and I’ve already arranged with our private family doctor to take over from whatever doctor she’s using. She didn’t seem thrilled, which makes me wonder if her doctor put her off having children, maybe out of wedlock. We can fix that.

My phone rings, and it’s Leon.

“Is something wrong?” I ask. I have an uneasy suspicion about what he’s about to say next.

“They’re not here. It looks like their things are packed, and they left. The house is abandoned.”

I take a deep breath before I say as calmly as I can, “Have their phones tracked. See where they were last. Get back to me within an hour.”

My door opens as I hang up the phone, and my brother Danil walks in. As the second eldest, he shoulders a lot of responsibility that I delegate to him.

“Something wrong? You look irritated.” He takes a bottle of water out of the fridge in my office and sits in the armchair in front of my desk.

“I have a problem that requires special attention, and it’s not going the way I want it to. A slight oversight I will have rectified shortly.”

“The girl?” he asks, and I narrow my eyes. “Luka told me.”

“Luka should learn to keep his mouth shut. What did he tell you?” I ask as a waitress brings in a tray with coffee on it. She leaves it on the side table and exits.

Danil waits for her to leave. “Only that her friend wanted your private number because the girl needed to call you urgently.”

“Her name is Penny,” I comment, getting up and going to sit on the sofa near the coffee. Danil gets up and sits opposite me.

“What could she possibly have wanted to speak to you about? She doesn’t seem as though she’s someone of importance.” He pours us each a steaming cup of coffee and sits back with his.

“She is very important. I want you and Luka to find her and her little friend. She has something of mine that I don’t want to endanger.” I sip my coffee and look at him pointedly.

“Let’s put the cryptic riddles aside. Is she pregnant?” Danil asks. “Cause I know you’ve been talking about an heir for some time.”

“She is, but not on purpose. It was a night of passion some weeks ago. But since it has happened, I find it best we marry and raise a family together.” I raise an eyebrow. “Okay?”

“Noted,” Danil says. “And you’re sure you can trust her with the sensitive nature of our family business.”

“We will teach her our ways, and she will be trustworthy, or I will deal with her,” I comment. I glance to my left out of the window that overlooks the club. The glass is one-way, so no one knows I’m monitoring them. I’m not arrogant enough to give my location away at all times.

“Make sure Luka brings her in unharmed,” I say quietly.

“Is she at least attractive?” Danil sighs.

“She’s beautiful. Curvy and red-haired, and I know deep inside there’s a fiery spirit that wants to be set free.” I smile and then chuckle. “She certainly wasn’t shy in the bedroom after a few drinks.”

I glance at my brother, who is typing on his phone. “Luka is tracking their phones now and will come back to us shortly, but I think the little problem we brought in today is actually going to be more useful in helping us find your little lost friend.”

I raise an eyebrow. “He owes us half a million. You want to excuse that debt for finding…”

“The heir to the family business. I think it’s worth it, don’t you?” He cocks his head to the side. “He is specially trained to do this sort of thing.”

Danil’s phone rings as I consider his proposition. Mike Wilson might owe me half a million, but if he can find Penny, it might be worthwhile to write that off.

“Luka has tracked both their phones. Your girlfriend left hers at the house, while his little side piece last used hers incentral Vegas. We need to check their bank accounts for any withdrawals and then try to track her car. Luka says she drives a blue hatchback.” Danil stands. “Should I bring him in?”

“Yes, let’s get this sorted sooner rather than later.” I set my coffee down as Danil goes outside and comes in a few seconds later, followed by a sweaty man. His usually calm demeanor is frayed with worry.
