Her pussy squeezes my dick so tight that my vision blurs, my balls tighten, and I come so much that it leaks down my cock still firmly lodged inside her.

She collapses against my chest, and we stay like that for a while, letting our breathing even out.

I wrap my arms around her small frame and place kisses on the top of her head as she melts into my embrace.

“Did you mean what you said earlier, or was that just part of the dirty talk?” Her voice is quiet and soft, almost inaudible as if she’s unsure she should be asking this at all.

I frown deeply, tracing circles on her skin with my thumb, “Did I mean what?” I ask softly before pressing a tender kiss against her hair.

“When you said.... about you being mine.” Her voice is almost a whisper now, and my heart wrenches in my chest, to think that she worries that the intimacy between us would remain solely for sex.

If only she knew the lengths I would go for her, it would frighten her.

Hell, truth be told, it should scare me, too.

But it doesn’t.

I tighten my grip around her in an attempt to meld her closer into my body. “I meant it all, Sunshine. There is no part of me that doesn’t belong to you, and that fact will remain long past the day when my soul no longer resides in my body.” I whisper softly, and my heart nearly shatters as I feel her tears fall to my bare skin.

Her slender arms wrap around my body as she snuggles into my chest, and we remain this way until sleeptakes us both.

Chapter 49

Lara

We retrieve the truck from the satellite lot at the airport, and on our way home, Darian makes a stop at a nearby grocery store. He returns with several bags filled with items, piquing my curiosity as I watch him.

Upon arriving at his house, we unload our carry-ons in the entryway, and a sense of relief washes over me with a deep sigh.

“I was beginning to think we would never return to this place,” I say softly, casting a sidelong glance at Darian as he secures the door behind us.

Absorbed in my own thoughts as I move toward the spare room, my steps come to a halt when his fingers encircle my wrist.

“Stay with me tonight. Please,” he says softly, a flicker of emotion I can’t quite place in his eyes and I nod.

My gaze tracks Darian’s movements as he carries our bags into the master bedroom, carefully placing them by the door.

We both take much needed showers and slip into clean clothes.

Caspian had provided us with specific instructions to attend an annual two-week long event taking place at our local convention center, where we could potentially find the next amulet.

The festival reconvenes tomorrow, giving us some spare time to ourselves this evening.

Darian enters the bedroom with a mischievous smirk on his face. “Hungry?”

I respond with a nod and trail behind him to the kitchen where he’s arranged items on the counter, accompanied by several bottles of wine.

“What’s all this?” I ask, stepping closer to what looks like ingredients laid out on the counter.

Darian grins, “Pizza and our very own wine tasting,”

I blink in surprise, then glance back at the counter as I mirror his grin, rubbing my hands together excitedly.

“Here are the rules. We each select five toppings, and then we’ll draw the toppings randomly from a hat. We’ll be allowed three toppings each for our pizzas. Once they’re cooked, we’ll rate the pizzas we tried. The winner will claim the prize” he explains, pausing for added dramatics, “The $300 bottle of tequila from the fridge.”

Oh, it’s on like Donkey Kong.

“Did I ever tell you that I’m hopelessly competitive?” I tease, reaching for the flour to make a thin-crust pizza.
