I watched as she let out a calming breath. “Maybe we need to take this someplace more private.”

“The hell you do,” a reporter cried out. “We’re invested now. You can’t leave us just hanging.” The room filled with murmurs of agreement.

“I want to hear you say it.” My other hand came up to cup her face in both my hands. “I will walk back on my retirement if you just say it, baby.”

The room was deadly silent, everyone eager to hear what Sinclair was going to say next. I had no doubt that this was being aired in real time and that we were going viral right this second, but I didn’t care. The entire world needed to know just how serious I was about this woman.

“Fine,” she bit out, none too happy. “We can…talk.”

“Yeah, no,” I chuckled. “I want a yes to my marriage proposal.”

“What marriage proposal?” she squawked.

“I told you that I wanted my ring on your finger, and I’m not settling for less,” I reminded her.

“I hate you,” she deadpanned.

“I know, baby,” I replied softly.

After a few tense seconds, another reporter hollered out, “So, is that a yes?”

Sinclair’s head dropped, and all I could do was wrap her up in my arms. “Yeah, that’s a yes,” I told the room, though it really hadn’t been.

“Holy shit,” another reporter exclaimed. “Talk about a fucking story.”

With nothing left to say, I glanced around the room. “Thanks for coming, but I guess I’m not retiring after all.”

Chapter 28

Sinclair~

This had to be the most insane thing to ever happen in my life. While Orion and I were in a private room at the Devil’s arena, our relationship was going viral all over the internet, a déjà vu account of when Raven King and Esme Daley had been all over the news last year.

When I had arrived at the arena, the girl at the front office had immediately recognized me as Orion’s ‘girlfriend’, so she had let me walk right on in. For whatever reason, Orion hadn’t changed his relationship status on any of his social media accounts, so the world had been none the wiser about our breakup. I had walked into that press conference like I’d had every right to be there, and I really hadn’t.

I eyed Orion as he eyed me back. “What were you thinking?”

“I was thinking that I needed to do anything to get you back,” he retorted, not at all fazed about having almost ended his career.

“Can’t you see how insane that is?” I asked. “Talk about a red flag.”

Orion just smirked. “I’m full of them.”

“I’m serious, Orion.”

“And I’m not?” he replied, his brows high. “My parents were horrible, and I have the issues to prove it.” He shrugged. “Stil, that doesn’t change how I feel about you.”

“Orion-”

“I know I fucked up,” he said, making his way towards me, no longer satisfied standing on the other side of the room. “I know that I should have trusted you, or at the very least, let you explain what Aldrich had been talking about. I know that, Sinclair.”

“Do you?” I asked, my hurt feelings resurfacing. “You can apologize all you want, but that doesn’t erase all those horrible things that you said to me.” His face fell, but this was too important to weaken now. “Is that what I can expect whenever you get pissed off?”

“No,” he said vehemently. “No. I swear it.”

“Yeah, that’s not what I see from my end,” I retorted.

“I know this is going to sound…fabricated and stupid, but that’s a first,” he claimed. “I’d never been hurt that way before, and…and I didn’t react well. It wasn’t enough to knock Aldrich out-”
