I block him, adrenaline pumping through my veins. "I could say the same," I growl, my fists clenched at my sides.

"Get out," Emila says, her breath hitching.

But he doesn't listen. He keeps talking, taunting me.

"I was just coming to see if you needed help with anything." His smile is sickeningly sweet. "Guess I got here at just the right time."

My control snaps. I launch myself at him, throwing punches with a wild fury that takes us all by surprise. I don't care who sees or hears or what happens next. He deserves this and more. My emotions hit redline as I pound his face, his chest, his stomach. My anger becomes a live wire coursing through me.

Emila watches in shock and fear as I mercilessly beat this guy down, my possessive rage on full display. She's never seen this side of me before, but she will know from now on that there's no one else who could ever have her.

She gasps as I slam him against the wall, pinning him there. He tries to fight back but it's no use. I'm stronger, faster.

Blood from his nose sprays onto my face, its metallic tang mixing with the taste of beer on my tongue.

I get lost in the assualt, taking all my rage out on him.

Emila grabs my arm, trying to pull me off him, but I shrug her off. This asshole has no idea what he's done. I won't stop until he knows to never threaten what'smine.

Mine, mine, mine.

Emila is mine!

Finally, after what feels like an eternity, I release him and step back. He crumples to the ground, coughing up blood. My chest heaves as I stare down at him. I don't say a word. I don't need to.

But then I turn, needing to scoop Emila into my arms, to comfort her.

And my heart drops.

My angel is nowhere to be found.

"Emila!" I call out her name.

But Emila...she's gone. Vanished into thin air.

The smell of alcohol and sweat fills my nostrils as I search for her, but she's nowhere to be found. Panic starts to set in. Did she really just leave me like this?

In my peripheral vision, I see the prick I just pummelled crawling away on the floor, blood dripping from his nose.

I don't care. Nothing matters but finding her.

The noise of my blood pounding in my ears is deafening as I search for her, stumbling out into the cool night air. She's nowhere.

Then I hear it—her soft sobs. I follow the sound down an alleyway, my heart pounding in my chest.

She's alone in the dark, her bright red lips painted and her eyes wide with fear.

I can see it all.

I speed up my steps, a sense of urgency consuming me.

There she is, curled up in a ball on the ground with her knees to her chest. Tears streak her makeup-stained cheeks.

"Emila," I whisper, reaching out to touch her shoulder. She recoils.

"Don't," she says hoarsely. "Just...go away."

"I can't do that." I lean down, my breath fanning her warm skin.
