Harley elbows him in the gut, and he chuckles, following us down the hallway. My cheeks heat as Ivy gives me a knowing grin, and I duck my head into Harley’s chest. His fingers move to my chin, tilting my head up to look at him. His blue eyes bore into mine as he leans in and kisses me. “There’s nothing to be ashamed of, Kitten. That was nothing compared to what I’m going to do to you tonight.”

Oh, shit. I’m in trouble.

Bring it on.

TWENTY-SEVEN

HARLEY

I SQUEEZE LILY’S hand, trying to concentrate on the conversation going on around me. My cock is straining uncomfortably against my jeans, and I can still taste her on my tongue. All I can think about is what I’m going to do to her when I get her alone again. The way her body responded to me was like a drug, and I can’t wait for another hit.

Ivy comes over and whispers something in Lily’s ear. She grins, nodding. “What’s so funny?” I ask.

Lily rests her palm on my chest, reaching on her tiptoes to kiss my cheek. “I’ll be right back.”

“Uh uh,” I shake my head, banding my arm around her waist and pulling her into me. “I’m not letting you out of my sight, Kitten.”

“I’ll be right over there,” she says, nodding in the direction of the karaoke machine. Wren and Ronnie wave at us. My curiosity is piqued.

“What’s all this about?”

“It’s a birthday surprise.” She untangles herself from meand winks as she saunters off with Ivy.

“This I’ve gotta see,” Jordan says.

We follow the girls over to the karaoke machine. Wren hands Ivy and Lily a microphone while Ronnie signals Tamika to cue up the song.

I shake my head with a laugh when the opening of Spice Girl’s “Wannabe” belts out over the speakers. The girls must have been planning this for a while because they even have choreographed dance moves as they sing along.

Lachy comes up behind me, slinging his arm around my shoulders. “You got a keeper there.”

My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard. “Yeah,” I agree. “I do.”

The girls finish their routine to cheers and wolf whistles. They hold hands and take a bow, laughing. A warmth spreads over me seeing her up there with my friends–watching them accept her so easily. It’s hard to believe that only a month ago she was pretty much a stranger. But I guess it’s like Mum always used to say: people will come into your life as you need them.

Breaking up with Ellie was the second hardest thing I’ve had to do, after having to say goodbye to my mum at her funeral. Ever since finding out about Conrad, I’ve felt angry, hurt, confused, resentful. I wasn’t prepared for Lily to come into my life, but now that she’s here, I’m going to do whatever it takes to hold on to her.

“That was quite the act,” I tell the girls when they push their way through the crowd. Lily’s cheeks are flushed andher honey eyes sparkle. I pull her into me, pressing my lips to the top of her head.

“We thought you’d like it,” Ivy laughs.

Lachy snorts. “It had nothing on us. I rocked that afro hairstyle like nobody’s business.”

“Yeah, you scared everyone with that hair,” Ivy says, rolling her eyes.

He arches a brow. “The girls loved it.”

“In your dreams, puttana.” Jordan grabs his brother in a headlock, rubbing his knuckles against the crown of his head.

“Vaffanculo.” Lachy shoves him off with a laugh.

“I need a drink after that performance,” Brady says, wrapping his arm around Wren’s shoulders. “Who’s up for some shots?”

“I’m good.” I hold up my beer. I’ve got plans for what I want to do with Lily later, and I do not want to be too intoxicated.

“I’m in,” Lachy says.

“Me too,” Jordan agrees, pressing his lips to Ronnie’s temple. “You’ll hold my hair back later, won’t you, pretty girl?”
