Cameron gestures for me to come over. This can’t be good.

I brace myself.

“What the hell, mate?” His accent catches me off guard. I didn’t know he was British.

“Ugh, yeah, sorry. Just business stuff, you know how it is.” I try my best to brush him off.

“You’re wasting my time, not to mention the women and the crew. It’s not just about you, Aaron.”

I know he’s right. I know I’m being selfish. I know this will help me in the long run. Tiffany called it reality rehab and that’s what I’ve got to think of it as. A short period of time where I have to endure something that isn’t fun to reap the benefits in the future.

Maybe one of these ladies will play along with it. I think it would be worse if the person I choose thinks we have a legitimate future together. That wouldn’t be fair.

I decide that’s how I’m going to play it. Find someone who’s playing the game and looking for something to benefit from. At least I won’t feel bad about wasting her time then.

I feel set on my decision as I make my way back to the carpet.

I wonder where Millie went. I wouldn’t have minded seeing what her big introduction was going to be.

They send through the last of the ladies as the sun finally relents. I even give a few proper smiles, for the sake of Tiffany’s sanity.

After a few more painful introductions, they finally let me go back to my room.

As I shake out the sand from my shoes, I wonder how I’m going to make it through several weeks of this. In my mind it was meant to be quick and painless. I thought it would all pass in a blur, but instead it feels like everything happening is in slow motion.

I open my laptop and get back to work. Finally.

CHAPTER 7

AARON

Ithrow my head back, looking up at the sky.

“You see, there.” Lana leans closer and points.

She’s clearly using it as an excuse to press her body against mine.

“Uh, yeah.” I blink. I don’t see anything.

We’re cloud watching. I want to murder whoever came up with this date idea.

I look over at the camera and a few people wave their hands for me to look away.

At this point, I will do anything to make this date end. My phone beeps and I have never been more thankful.

The director yells cut, again. It’s the third time this date he’s had to do it.

“So, um.” Lana bats her eyelashes and looks up at me. She leans in and covers her microphone. “After this, maybe we could get to know each other better?” She subtly tries to put her hands down my pants, and I jump up.

“Next,” I say, storming past.

A sea of eyes follow me, clearly confused as to what had just happened.

“What just happened?” Tiffany follows me closely. She walks surprisingly fast for someone with short legs.

“I just got felt up.”

She bursts out laughing and then smacks her hand on her mouth. “Well, it’s about time you got some action.”
