“No problem.” He gives me a small smile and then goes back to his phone.

The circumstances are still far from ideal, but it feels like a weight has been lifted. Now I can finally relax.

CHAPTER 12

MILLIE

The entire limo ride over to his house, Aaron seems slightly less grumpy than usual, which is strange considering he just lost significant PR exposure. Maybe he’s feeling the same relief I am.

He continues to type away on his phone. He’s probably just happy he can fully focus on work.

I look around the limousine. It’s very fancy considering we’re just going from an apartment to a house.

The limo turns into a large driveway, stopping at an enormous white gate.

The driver types in a code and the gate slowly and dramatically reveals the house.

It’s not a house at all. It’s practically a village.

The limo drives up the pebbled driveway and stops beside an ornate fountain. The white mansion towers over us with its soaring arches and pillars, tiny lights illuminating either side of the entryway.

They really should have filmed here.

Don’t get me wrong, the hotel where we filmed was gorgeous, but this is breathtaking.

Before we reach the front door, someone swings it open, and I jump back.

Aaron chuckles as a woman steps into view. “This is Sienna, my housekeeper.”

Oh. I try to hide my embarrassment, but I can feel my cheeks going red.

“Make yourself at home.” Aaron leads me into the enormous foyer.

Everything is white and crisp with gold-hued lighting and metallic accents throughout. The marble floors are so glossy I feel like I could go ice skating on them.

He leads me to one of the staircases. Of course, there is one staircase on either side of the foyer leading up to another level.

Aaron’s phone rings and I catch a strange look on his face.

“Sorry, I’ve got to take this.”

Sienna nods her head and takes over the house tour.

She sighs. “Always working, that one. I was hoping…” She pauses on one of the steps. “I was hoping he was finally going to meet someone and not be stuck in his office; that’s where he spends his time when he’s here.”

She leads me up the stairs to an open lounge area that overlooks a balcony with a gorgeous view of the ocean.

There’s a large TV hanging on the wall to the right, with a fireplace underneath.

I look to my left and nearly fall over. There’s a giant wall filled with books.

There are soft-looking couches and chairs scattered across the massive space.

This is my idea of heaven. I don’t know how he ever leaves this place.

I imagine nights by the fire, engulfed by one of the white egg-like chairs that swing, reading a good book with a drink in my hand. Perfection.

Sienna walks me past the bookshelves down a large hallway that leads to another wing of the house.
