We’re greeted with drinks and a gorgeous selection of appetizers.

“Oh my God,” I breathe. “I think I died and went to heaven.”

Aaron smiles. “What should we do today?”

I make a noncommittal noise. “I usually like to pre-plan everything, but I think today we should just see where the day takes us.”

Dishes are placed in front of us.

I take a bite of the breakfast burger. “Oh, everything that is good in the world, that dang special sauce!”

Aaron laughs.

I probably have it all over my face and I could not care less.

I peek over at Aaron’s plate. “What did Chef organize for you?”

“It’s a little bit of all my favorite things.” He digs his fork in and then holds it up to me. “And in the spirit of our day of freedom, I am doing something I’ve never done before. Take a bite.”

“Wow. Your first? I’ll be gentle.” I lean forward and lightly take a bite off his fork.

Our eyes connect and my body heats up.

I drop my eyes and try to focus on the food and not whatever that was. “Wow. That’s incredible.”

He smiles and eats the rest of the food off the fork.

Once we finish our meal, we decide to walk along the beach and see where we end up.

I look out at a couple jet skiing and grin. “I can feel it. Yes, I can smell it.”

Aaron looks at me like I’m crazy. “What?”

I give him a serious look. “That I’m going to kick your butt at jet skiing.”

He gives me a devilish grin. “Oh really? Cameras off, gloves are off, huh?”

I crack my knuckles. “Absolutely.”

“Okay,” he says. “If we’re doing this. I’m in it to win it.”

“Game on. What are we wagering?” I try to think of something good, but my mind goes blank.

He strokes his stubble. “If I win, you have to tell me the truth about the girls on the show.”

I would do that for free, but he doesn’t know that. “Fine. If I win… you have to go a day without work.”

Aaron looks like he’s about to have a stroke.

“Maybe not,” I say quickly. “Maybe… I get a lifetime supply of Chef’s special sauce and your cocktail recipe. Those are some high stakes!”

He smiles and reaches out his hand. “Deal.”

I reach my hand out and as our hands meet, I involuntarily shudder.

My body has its own agenda, apparently.

I hope he doesn’t notice, and I try to brush it off. “Deal. And don’t think I’m going easy. That sauce ismine.”
