“You’re the last of the girls to arrive. Everyone is set for Kelly to address them. She’s one of the producers; she’ll explain everything.” She speaks like she’s had about fifty coffees and two hours of sleep.

I’m guessing that’s probably accurate.

I internally gawk at the large pool area leading up to the entrance of the enormous hotel, which has a stunning view of the crystal-clear ocean. It’s the most luxurious place I’ve ever been to in my life.

I follow the assistant who’s practically jogging, lugging my suitcases up the stairs. She looks like she would drag me by the ear if it would get me to go faster.

Two male staff members who look like they are straight out of the pages of a magazine rush toward me and take my luggage, apologizing profusely and telling me they would never allow a guest to touch their own luggage, but that I came through the wrong entrance. I assure them it’s okay, but they look mortified.

Possibly the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen approaches. “Welcome!”

“We don’t have…” the assistant, who never actually introduced herself, interrupts her.

The greeter gives her a look I can’t decipher. “We’re here for anything you need, day or night.”

“A shot of tequila?” I joke.

The assistant glares at me.

“Kidding!”

The greeter laughs, and I feel like I already have an ally.

“Angelica, what’s taking you so long?” an annoyed-looking man dressed in head-to-toe black says.

The assistant huffs and gestures to me. “She took forever. Not my fault.”

He crosses his arms. “It never is.”

Angelica rolls her eyes. “Honestly, one contestant ends up in jail on your watch and you never hear the end of it,” she complains.

I’m sorry, what?

She glances back at me, as if she’s remembering I’m still there.

“Go with Michael.” She gestures to the man.

“Nice to…” I start to say, but she’s already stormed off.

“Ground rules,” Michael warns me as he weaves through the hotel. “Drinking is permitted, but if you’re going to do drugs, get naked, or anything else, do it off camera. Don’t end up in jail and don’t ever—” he comes to a sudden stop, causing me to stumble, “—wake me up, unless someone is dead or close to being dead.”

“Noted.”

He continues making his way through the hotel. I barely have time to register the sheer beauty of the building because he’s almost running at this point.

I can barely keep up; my feet pound and I can feel myself sweating despite the air conditioning.

“Everyone has their own agenda. Figure out what you want out of this and go for it. This is the animal kingdom, it’s the wild west. It may seem harmless, but it’s not.”

We reach the end of a hallway, and Michael stops at the door. “And if you become famous, make sure you remember me.” He winks and shoves me into a very bright, crowded room where I’m hit with an overwhelming array of conflicting perfumes.

I feel like I’ve just been thrown to the wolves.

All the women look like models. They all look incredibly put together considering they were on a plane until very recently. My guess is a lot of them flew in a higher class or got here earlier andhad time to freshen up. Maybe I should’ve pushed for a direct flight.

Not that I care what I look like, but I’d rather not look like I was fished out of a dumpster on national TV, and that’s if this even goes to air.

I look around to see if there are any cameras yet, but much to my relief, there don’t seem to be.
