I want to laugh, but there’s a pit in my stomach.

“I promise, I will do whatever it takes to make it up to you. You can even bring it up in future fights.”

She furrows her eyebrows. “We’re going to fight?”

I sit on the bed and caress her cheek. “We’re going to fight and make up and laugh and love and do it all over again.”

I know in my heart that even if we do fight, I will always cave because I love her. I can’t tell her this right now, but I love her, and I will spend the rest of my life showing her just how much.

I’ve never felt like this about anyone and now we’re having a child together. It feels like the universe’s way of making me shift my priorities.

Millie nuzzles her head into my hand. “Sounds perfect.”

I think back to the reality show that started all of this and in a weird way, I’m thankful. Without the show, I wouldn’t’ve met her and without the crew abandoning us, we wouldn’t have this child.

I’m so happy we have ended up here. I’m so grateful that it happened, because now I feel like everything makes sense.

I know I’m going to be a better father than my own. I will make sure I don’t let Millie or our child down, ever.

I stare at Millie and the future feels bright. Everything feels right.

EPILOGUE

18 MONTHS LATER: MILLIE

Ipush the front door open with my hip as I attempt to carry everything inside.

Sienna runs up to me. “Why on earth are you carrying all of this? I could’ve done that.”

I give her a look.

She tilts her head. “You’re just as stubborn as Aaron about letting me do my job.”

I smile. “Guilty as charged.”

She takes some of the bags off me and I follow her to the main kitchen to offload the groceries.

I love being back here. It feels like coming home.

As we unpack the food, Sienna gives me a stern look. “You know we have all the food you need here.”

“I know, and I will be forever grateful to Chef, but there are some things I wanted to get.”

Sienna frowns. “You could’ve just put it on the list before you arrived.”

I laugh. “You know how bad the brain fog is after having a kid. Brutal.”

She laughs. “I feel like I still have it a decade later.”

I walk upstairs to get changed, tracing my hand along the wall that has become so familiar to me.

I’ve started to slowly get through Aaron’s book collection, but these days I’m occupied with something else.

I walk through the hallway to the wing where I stayed when I first came here. It’s now littered with baby things.

I start to tidy up but Alison, our nanny, scolds me. “You need to relax, Millie. That’s why you have me.”

“I just got that from Sienna, now you.”
