"I'm going to take a shower and get this dirt off of me. Will you be okay?" he asks, his arm around my waist.

"I'll be fine. I'm just hanging out with Denise."

"I see that."

I turn to him and he takes my face in his hands, kissing me like I'm the center of his world and nothing matters but me. This kiss says everything we can't say to each other, not out loud, not now.

My arms wrap around his neck and pull him in tighter, enjoying the way the beer tastes on his tongue.

Suddenly, cheering and catcalling erupts in the living room and my face burns with embarrassment.

Did everyone just catch up making out like that? Damnit. Denise is right next to me.

"Gunner, get in there!" The guys sing his name as he slowly pulls out of the kiss.

"Keep doing that and I'll make you join me," he warns teasingly.

"You started it, Sunshine." I'm sure my face is bright red but he doesn't mention it. He just turns to Denise who sends him a smile.

Her smile is different from the other women who look at Xander. Hers is like Davina's smile but brighter. It's like she sees Xander as a son. It warms my heart.

"Watch out for her," he says to her.

She signals him by wiping each corner of her lip with a different thumb then taps a closed fist against her open palm.

He laughs and gently pats her shoulder. "Total badass, Denny." Then, he leaves and I'm staring at Denise in confusion.

"What was that?" I ask but I feel stupid because I know she can't really tell me.

She holds up her pointer fingers and nods like she has a great idea before she suddenly kicks out her foot, motioning for me. I'm still stumped so she pretends to be writing on her hand.

"Wait, you want to play Charades for me to guess?" I ask and she grins her acknowledgment. "I'm game. Let's see how close we can get. I used to play Charades all the time with my little brother."

She throws her thumbs up then holds up one finger.

"First word, okay."

She points at herself which seems pretty self-explanatory.

"You."

She nods then moves onto the second word, but I'm stuck between thinking she's playing soccer or dancing.

"Dance, run, play, kick."

She throws up her thumbs at the last word and I nod, so glad that we're doing fine so far.

Instead of trying to act it out, Denise makes the strangest noise that I can only imagine is a combination of her throat and nose, closely sounding like a horse.

"Horse, mule, donkey."

She makes a strange motion with her hands which I remember from playing with Ivan. "Another word for donkey? I already said mule, but there's also burro and…Oh! You'd kick someone's ass if they mess with me?"

She throws her thumbs up and a smile spreads across my face.

"Denise, that's really sweet." I want to say more, but then there's a knock at the door. With Xander in the shower, I'm the hostess so I should be the one to greet people.

It's probably just Davina and Lucy anyway.
