“Like Vibranium inBlack Panther?” she asked, eyes wide.

He snapped his fingers and pointed at her. “Exactly like Vibranium.”

“Show me,” Parker said.

“What? Absolutely not. I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Why not? You tell me this story and you won’t back it up?”

“I’m not lying, Parker.”

“Then show me.”

Linc leaned closer, balled his hand into a fist, and although it looked like he had only lightly hit his brother’s shoulder, pain blazed across Parker’s face.

“Shit!” he hissed, rubbing his arm. “What the hell?”

“Now you know,” he said emotionless. “I don’t understand it and I can’t explain it.”

Parker shook his head. “You thought I wouldn’t believe you? That this changes how I love you?”

Lincoln held up his hands, showing off the words inked across them. “Yours saves lives but these end it. Every night I fought, someone ended up dead. Not because I couldn’t pull back on the intensity, but because Demidov expected it. More money can be made when life is on the line. And every night a little bit of me was whittled away more and more. Until I became a monster.”

“You’re not a monster,” Parker whispered.

“When Thorn came along, offering a lifeline, I took it and joined the Death Riders. You asked me why and this is it. They saved me, Parker, in a way you couldn’t. Not because I chose them over you, but because I had no way to save myself.”

“Don’t say that,” Parker ordered.

Lincoln’s breath came out in harsh pants, and he felt like he was on the verge of a panic attack.

“You’re not alone,” Vivi said. She placed her hand on his bare arm. “Just take a breath and calm down.”

Something … some odd feeling cascaded through him. A peace he hadn’t felt in a long time settled along his nerves, instantly calming his mind. The panic receded. Even the slight headache that never quite went away, disappeared.

He blinked, completely nonplussed. “How did you do that?”

“You aren’t the only one with abilities.” She looked between him and Parker, and bit her lip. It looked like she was wavering on something, before taking a deep breath. “I recently talked to a couple of people like us. Seems like walking among the dead leaves a residue.”

“Wait,” Parker said. He pushed away his plate, all semblance of eating forgotten. “You can do that too?”

“Not pain,” she replied. “The opposite. I can calm people.”

Parker looked back and forth between them. “Do you know how many people a day survive a brush with death? Your special ability can’t be because of that.”

“I agree,” Lincoln said. “It can’t be just that. Maybe it’s something in our genetic makeup. Maybe we’re like mutants. Nothing happens until a catastrophic event forces the change.”

“We also thought that maybe there’s a reason so many of us have congregated in one place,” she murmured. “Although we couldn’t determine why.”

“I’m sorry, brother,” Lincoln whispered. “I was drowning and didn’t know how to save myself. But it wasneverabout them over you.”

“Thank you for trusting me,” Parker said with a soft smile. “I, ah, I get it now. And I’m here for you, Linc. I willalwaysbe here for you.”

For the first time in a long time, Lincoln didn’t have that empty feeling inside. He had his club, and now he had Vivi, but none of them felt like having his twin smile at him once again.

Vivi sat astride his legs, completely naked, her hair flowing loose around her face and shoulders. She arched her back, the position thrust her breasts out, toward his mouth, and he eagerly accepted the invitation. His lips skimmed across her skin, sucking on each nipple until they stood raw and turgid. She gasped, rolling her hips, bringing her pussy directly over his hard cock.
