“Yeah, well, I’m not happy with any of them.”

“Okay,” Brim said, sounding confused. “That’s your domain and I trust you’ll find the right person or persons.”

Ares nodded.

Brim looked at Ronin. “I received another contract for you.”

“Yeah, sure,” Ronin said, without any hesitation. With absolutely no emotion. His green eyes chips of ice. Brim slid the folder over and Ronin picked it up to glance at it. “Half a mil. Sweet.”

He closed the folder and threaded his fingers together across his stomach, not saying anything else. Lincoln gave his financial report and the jobs completed for other MCs. The Death Riders offered a wide variety of services: assassination, money laundering, protection detail. They stayed out of the drug running and weapons dealership. However, that didn’t mean they wouldn’t hesitate to shoot a motherfucker that went after them. Once the meeting was concluded, Brim banged his gavel and dismissed church.

“Lincoln, a word,” Brim said.

He stayed in his seat as everyone filed out, and Thorn closed the door, giving him and Brim privacy.

“What’s up?” he asked.

“Are you all set for tomorrow?”

“Yeah.”

Brim nodded thoughtfully. “I can’t stress the importance of not pissing off Pietro Romanelli. He may be in Chicago but distance won’t matter if he feels slighted or threatened. Anything you see on his books needs to be immediately forgotten. Understood?”

“Yes.”

“Good. I’ll see you when you get back.”

The first glass of wine went down smoothly.

As did the second.

By the middle of the third, Vivi had convinced herself that she was the next Leonardo da Vinci.

“Hey,” she said, elbowing Chase. “How’s this looking?”

Chase squinted, before closing one eye. She, too, was on her third glass of wine. “It’s beautiful.”

Vivi preened. “I knew this was a matter piece.” Vivi frowned. “Wait. I don’t think that’s right. Meter piece? Madam piece? Eh.”

Leia tilted her head as she studied Vivi’s painting. “It’s supposed to be the setting sun over water. Why is there a smiley face in your sun?”

“I call it Mooning Lisa,” Vivi said proudly.

Chase nodded sagely. “Brillant. You’re really talented, Vivi. I put a wineglass in my sun.”

“Oo.” Vivi clapped her hands. “I wish I’d thought of that. That reminds me I should pour myself another glass.”

“We’re out of time, ladies,” Leia said, the only sober one there. “Tim will be picking us up in a few minutes.”

“I need to text my well-endowed boyfried,” Vivi said.

“Boyfriend,” Chase corrected.

“Isn’t that what I said?”

“Close enough,” Leia murmured. “Okay, lets grab everything and head to the front.”
