He grinned. “This is my VP, Nyx, and my enforcer, Jackal.”

Vivi waved at the other men. “Hi. I have to say, Draco, I am very impressed with your fortification. The zombies will never get in here.”

Draco’s forehead scrunched as if he wasn’t sure he heard her correctly.

“Uh … thanks?”

Lincoln placed his arm across her shoulder. Vivi glanced curiously up at him, smiling.

“Thanks for letting us crash here,” he said, taking over the conversation.

Draco looked between them, one eyebrow arching. “Of course. Allies take care of one another. Thanks for taking off your colors, by the way. Welcome to the Nightmare Kings.”

He made acome, follow memotion with his hand, and then turned to lead them into the clubhouse. The outside might have been different than the other MCs, but the inside was virtually the same. Bar, booze, broads—the three Bs. Or did bar and booze count as the same thing? The sickly-sweet scent of pot hung in the air combining with the sour punch of old beer.

Lincoln and the other men started talking about schedules and meeting places, yada yada yada, so she wandered over to the game of pool being played, making sure to stay out of the way. The only positive thing she could say from her three months of captivity was that she found a love for the game. It required concentration, which was good for her brain, since it tended to run in all different directions.

“Hey there,” one of the men said, which brought the attention from the other. He had a blue-tipped Mohawk. “Where did you come from?”

“Outside,” she replied guilessly.

That made both men snicker. “You look like a fairy, all little and shit. Are you even legal?”

“I can buy beer if that’s what you’re asking.”

“Good to know, little girl,” Blue Mohawk dude said. “Wanna play with us?”

“I’d love to!” Vivi smiled widely. “I’ll warn you now, I’m pretty good at it.”

“Duly warned,” he said. “Although I think I can take ya. Wanna make a bet?”

“Flirtin’ with my woman?” Lincoln asked as he walked up behind her. He encircled her waist with his arm and pulled her into his side.

Vivi looked up at him. “He’s not flirting, Lincoln.”

“No, Iwasflirting.”

“Oh,” she replied, frowning. “Well, anyway, what bet were you thinking?”

“I win, I get a kiss.” When Lincoln growled, Blue Mohawk guy smirked. “On my cheek.”

Vivi folded her arms across her chest. “Sounds reasonable. And whenIwin, you announce to the whole Kings club how my mad pool skills are awesome.”

He held out his hand, and she shook on the bet. Lincoln gave an annoyed huff, took hold of her hand, and steered her back to where Draco waited, arms crossed over his chest and an amused expression on his face.

“Kian is a pretty skilled player,” he told her.

“You think he’ll beat me?” she asked, tilting her head.

“I guess we’ll find out,” he said indulgently. “Come on, you two, I’ll show you where you’re snoozing.” He turned to a set of stairs and made his way up.

Lincoln side-eyed her. “Don’t cause trouble.”

She grabbed hold of his hand and batted her eyes flirtatiously. “I only have eyes for you.”

“I’m serious, Vivi.”

“I wasn’t flirting, Lincoln. I’m just interested in the game. I’ll make sure to shut down any other flirtatious comments that come my way.”
