She opened the door and her mouth dropped—or at least she feared it had. “You clean up nice.” A warm smile curled on her lips. Christian always lookedgood, but dressed up in black trousers, a white button-down shirt, his forearms rippling with toned muscles, his broad chest...Wow. Just wow.

“Thanks,” he said, handing her the bouquet of flowers.

“Aww. Thanks.” She sniffed them. “I’ll set them over here and call the front desk for a vase.” She laid them on the desk, then turned back to Christian.

“You’re gorgeous,” he said. “You always are.”

Gorgeous? No one had ever called her that before.

“I have reservations at the hotel restaurant, but you know what I really want to do?” he said, brushing her hair back and placing a kiss on her forehead.

Her limbs tingled from his tender touch, and a delighted smile curled on her lips. “I have a feeling I do.”

“And?”

“I want to too,” she said.

“You sure?”

“Don’t even have to think about it.” She smiled.

An hour later, shoes were kicked across the floor and they were on it. Room service trays laden with yummy food waited on the coffee table, but they’d been too competitive in an albeit friendly way to stop and eat.

“Uno,” he said, flipping down the green three.

They’d been talking about how much they both loved the game since they’d started working with one another. It was the only card game she was good at, but apparently she’d met her match. He was decimating her.

“Oh, come on.” She threw her cards down. “No way! Not again.”

He arched a sexy brow. “Want to go again?”

“You bet. We’re playing until I beat you, mister.”

“Mister, huh?”

She smirked. “Yes. Now shuffle the cards in that fancy way of yours.”

“Fancy?” He smiled, fine lines creasing at the corners of his beautiful brown, honey-tinged eyes.

“Where you lift them up in a way that defies gravity.”

“Like this,” he said, lifting the cards in a long, streaming line.

“Exactly,” she said.

“Want me to teach you?” he asked.

“Yes, please.” She couldn’t even shuffle the basic way, having to just jumble the cards by mixing them sideways in her hands over and over.

“Okay.” He raised up on his knees. “Come here.”

She didn’t have to be asked twice. Getting on her knees, she scooted over on them. “Here,” he said, positioning her in front of him, her back against his strong, chiseled chest.

She swallowed.

“Now,” he said, wrapping his arms around her. “Take these in your hand,” he said, placing them in her right palm, “and if you pull up with purpose, they’ll fly in your hand.”

She tried and tried, then finally did it. “I got it!”
