But we were ready.

Wewantedhim to give chase.

It was all part of our plan.

The world became a blur as Riley and I sprinted into the heart of the jungle.

Overhead, the canopy was a maze of shadows and dappled light.

Trees and plants whizzed by as we ran, with Krexar’s heavy footfalls echoing ominously behind us.

I crashed through the undergrowth, making sure I was the more obvious target for Krexar.

It wasn’t pride; it was strategy.

The louder and more disruptive I was, the more focused Krexar would be on catching me and not her.

And we needed that split-second of distraction.

Our breaths came out in ragged gasps, the weight of the situation making it hard to breathe.

But the sound of Krexar’s pursuit was a relentless reminder to push forward.

“Left, here!” I called out to Riley, directing her toward a particularly dense cluster of trees.

Our traps lay ahead, the first line of defense against our relentless pursuer.

Riley nodded, adjusting her course without missing a beat.

I cast a glance behind and saw Krexar, his eyes fixed on us, determination etched on his face.

He was close,too close.

But as we made a sharp turn, weaving through a series of carefully concealed tripwires and pitfalls, I couldn’t suppress the triumphant grin that spread across my face.

The tables were about to turn.

The heart-pounding pursuit continued, each turn, each duck and dive, drawing Krexar deeper into our web.

And while fear and adrenaline coursed through my veins, there was also hope.

Hope that our plan would work, hope that we could finally put an end to this chase, and hope for a future, free from the clutches of the Mating Game.

Hope of being with Riley.

The distant roars of the platform’s creatures served as a haunting backdrop to our chase, reminding us of the ever-present dangers lurking in the shadows.

Yet, despite the odds, Riley’s faith in our plan and her trust in me kept me going.

The dense foliage thinned out as we reached another clearing.

With one last glance back at our pursuer, I tightened my grip on Riley’s hand.

“Ready?” I asked, already knowing her answer.

She said nothing and just jerked her head forward in a nod.

We took off deeper into the jungle, putting our trust in the traps we’d set and each other.
