He places a finger on my lips. “Jett’s fine. He’s not out in the woods. He’s probably still passed out in whoever’s bed he landed in last night.”

“Did you at least try to call him?”

He kisses my forehead. “Stop. You don’t need to worry about him.”

I give in on a huff.

Cash grins at the high school band teacher. “Okay, Mr…. I’m sorry. I didn’t get your name.”

“It’s Jupiter,” he says as they shake hands.

“Jupiter?”

“I’m a Winter Falls native.”

Cash rubs his hands together. “Do you have a class of kids or just a few who need help?”

I nearly try to stop Cash again but I notice the sparkle in his eyes. He’s excited to help these kids.

“I’m not the best guitar player. Dylan plays lead guitar forCash & the Sinners, but I do all right.”

Their discussion quickly delves into technical music stuff I don’t understand. I probably should let them go, but I notice the group of teachers following them and join in.

A female teacher I have yet to meet bumps my shoulder. “I can’t believe you’re dating Cash fromCash & the Sinners.”

“What’s he like?” another woman asks.

“Does he sing to you in bed?”

“How about those fingers of his? Does he strum you like a guitar?”

“Has he asked you to do a threesome?”

“I’m up for a threesome.”

“Your husband would kill you.”

“Nope. Cash is on my list.”

I hold up my hands. “Ladies. Ladies. Ladies.”

Several eager eyes focus on me. “I’ve known Cash since he was a teenager who wore dirty jeans with holes in them. He’s not some famous dude to me. He’s Cash.”

“You love him?”

I roll my eyes. I’m not telling these strangers I love Cash when I haven’t managed to tell Cash yet. Or again.

“Do you want to watch Cash teach a bunch of snot-nosed teenagers how to play the guitar or do you want to grill me? Spoiler alert. I won’t be revealing anything sexual about Cash.”

“Bummer,” Mrs. West says as she joins us. “I was hoping for some tips for the bedroom.”

My mouth drops open.

“Don’t look so shocked. Middle-aged mothers have sex, too.”

Before I can answer, a cheer goes up in the music room as Cash saunters in. I am not missing out on watching him teach. Whenever he’s near a guitar, his body lights up with excitement. He was always meant to be a musician.

I enter the room in time to watch Cash raise a hand. Everyone immediately quiets. The man has stage presence in a classroom.
