“It’s probably better she wasn’t.” I sigh. “She never would have honored Grandma’s wishes.”

“You need to call her.”

I do, but I’m not ready. Not when there’s a possibility our relationship will be forever ruined after I confront her about what she did to Cash.

“Stop being reasonable. Where’s my rockstar Cash?”

“I can be reasonable and be a rockstar.”

“As long as Aurora folds your panties for you.”

“You’re in trouble now.” He tickles my ribs. I try batting him away but he doesn’t let up until he picks me up and throws me over his shoulder.

“Don’t drop me.”

He pretends to stumble. “I’ll try not to.”

I slap his back. “There is no try. Only do.”

“I love you, my Star Wars geek.”

“Knowing one quote from Yoda doesn’t make me a Star Wars geek.”

He throws me on the bed. “Are you done stalling yet?”

“Stalling?”

He drops on top of me. “Tell me you love me, Indigo.”

I sigh. He’s right. I have been stalling. Which is silly. He already knows I love him. And I told him as much, too. But it was an accident. Saying the words on purpose feels big. I’m not ready to say them.

I glance up at Cash and our gazes meet. His eyes are full of love. Open and honest. How can I deny him?

“I love you, Cash.” Please don’t break my heart.

“I love you, too, Indigo. If it takes me the rest of my life, I’ll prove to you I’m not going anywhere.”

I trail a finger down his arm. “You could start now.”

“I plan to.”

His lips meet mine and I forget all about my fear of him leaving me behind. My fear of him realizing I don’t fit into his rockstar life.

Chapter 29

Dream – everything you’ve ever wanted

Cash

“Get up, Indy.”

I shake her shoulder and she bats me away. “Go away.”

“It’s time to get up.”

She burrows into her pillow. “No school today.”

“Don’t you want to come to the studio with me?”
