“You don’t have to do that. Bellamy and I will be here.”

“Thanks, but I wasn’t asking for your permission.”

We stand, locked in a stare-off until his lips tip up in a cocky grin. “Don’t fuck him over, blondie.”

“Better men than you have underestimated me, God of War. They regret it now.”

“What’s going on over there?” Cross calls from his bed.

“I was just telling blondie, if she’ll take care of you, Bellamy and I have the kids tonight and tomorrow morning. You need to sleep. Doc said rest is the most important thing.”

Cross’s siblings walk out, closing the door behind them, and my big man grumbles something about sleeping the whole flight home. “I don’t feel like sleeping.”

I move between his legs, and his hands skim up the backs of my bare thighs.

“Doc said you had to relax, right?” I ask as an idea comes to me.

EVERLY

“You’re kidding me, right?” Cross asks, not liking my idea.

“Nope. Not kidding. You have the tub my dreams are made of. I’m going to fill it with warm water, turn the lights off in the bathroom so you can rest your eyes, and I want you to relax in a bath.”

“Everly... girls take baths. Men don’t take baths.”

“Your tub is really big, Cross.”

I take his hand and tug him up off the bed, then pull him behind me into his bathroom. “Now sit.”

I try not to think about the fact that his ex probably picked out the tacky, fluffy stool that goes with the built-in makeup vanity in his bathroom as I push him down on it and turn on the water. When I spin around, he looks less than impressed. “Just trust me.”

I walk out of the room and turn the lights back on in the bedroom to give us a warm glow in the bathroom. Just enough to be able to see without it bothering his eyes. When I walk back in, I kneel in front of him. “What are you doing?”

At least when I’m on my knees, he doesn’t sound as grouchy.

Silly man . . .

“I’m undressing you, Wilder. You can’t take a bath fully clothed.” I slip his glasses off first and gently press my lips to the purple bruise blooming on the side of his face.

“I don’t want to take a bath at all, baby.”

Yup. Me on my knees and one single press of my lips and he’s calling mebaby.

This man has no idea what he does to me.

I ignore his grouchy answer and take off one shoe, then the other before I strip him very carefully until he’s gloriously naked. Taking my time to trace each defined muscle in his back. His chest. His abs. His body is a work of art.

“It’s not nice to tease a man when he’s down, Cinderella.”

“Oh, honey.” I make a dramatic attempt to look down at his dick. “You’re nowhere near down, and I never said you were going to be in the tub alone. I just said it was a really big tub, and I thought a bath could relax you.”

He runs his hands under my hoodie. “Always so pretty in my clothes, baby. We’re gonna have to revisit these socks when I feel better.”

“We’ll revisit anything you want, as long as you follow the doctor’s orders and rest, Cross.”

“And you’ll help me rest?” he questions, more upbeat now.

“Doctor’s orders.” I turn the water off, then take his hands. “Be careful. You’re not completely steady.”
