Graham took the bag and stepped aside, opening the door further to invite me in. “I like your jeans,” he chuckled. When I was close to him, he bent down, planting a kiss on my cheek before he let me the rest of the way into the house. “I’m glad you’re here.”

I looked around the house, taking in the elegant staircase and the high ceilings that made the already open design look even larger. The fireplace in the living room was framed with painted brick, giving the room a natural focal point other than the kitchen. “This house is beautiful! Did you build it?”

“Just remodeled it,” he said, shaking his head. When another man turned the corner, brushing his blond hair out of his eyes before he snatched the bag out of his hands, Graham groaned. “Don’t be a dick, dude. At least say hi.”

“I figured you’d introduce me,” the guy said, setting the bag down and resting his hip against the counter. He stood there, staring at Graham until he rolled his eyes.

“Chelsea, this is Wade. He’s my foreman, andfor now, my best friend.” Graham pointed to him. “This is Chelsea. Be nice.”

Wade stepped forward, wiping his hand off on the front of his jeans before he extended his hand to me. “I’ve been looking forward to meeting you since the big date!” he said, shaking my hand. Butterflies went on a rampage in my stomach, remembering the first date I had been so adamantly against going on. “You can actually stand this guy, huh?” Wade laughed, and Graham pinched his nose between his finger and thumb with regret.

“He’s alright, I guess.” I giggled when Graham raised his eyebrows and cocked his head to the side.

“Just alright? One night, she’s screaming and comparing you to God, and the next, you’re justalright.” Graham chuckled, putting his hands on his hips in mock frustration.

I swatted his chest. “You know I’m joking.”

Graham grabbed my wrist, tugging me to him and looking at me like he might kiss me until Wade cleared his throat. “So you brought lunch?” he asked, sounding hopeful. I nodded.

“Want a tour of the place?” Graham asked, guiding my gaze back to his. “You don’t want to be here while he eats anyways.” Wade grumbled in protest before he shrugged, jumping up and sitting on the counter.

I took Graham’s hand, weaving my fingers with his and grinning up at him. “I’d love a tour.”

His face lit up when he led me out of the kitchen and back toward the front door before we climbed the stairs to the second floor. He took me through each bedroom, pointing out intricate tile work and new bathroom fixtures. When he told me the floors were the original hardwood and that it had taken him days to refinish it all, his face beamed with pride, and my chest squeezed.

“This house is incredible!” I said on the way back down the stairs. “You did all of that?”

Graham looked cocky, half-shrugging his shoulder. “With a little help, but yeah. It’s what I do.” He looked around the main living area, nodding to himself with approval. “I really like this one. The house too,” he added with a laugh. I crinkled my nose, half-fighting the smile that pulled at my lips.

By the time we had made it back to the kitchen, Wade was gone, and so was any trace of the hamburger he had eaten. I looked down the small hallway towards a cracked doorway, and when I heard power tools behind the door, I assumed I had at least a few minutes alone with Graham before he came back. I tossed my arms around his shoulders, stretching onto my toes to kiss him.

“Did you really come here to give me lunch, or did you come here to try and seduce me?” he asked, wrapping his arm around my waist and holding me close.

I shrugged. “That depends—is it working?” I asked, and Graham laughed, nodding and mashing his mouth to mine.

“I’d say you’re getting somewhere,” he joked, his lips barely hovering over mine before he kissed me again. He hooked his hands under my legs, dropping me onto the counter before he settled between them. I squealed, holding onto him tighter like he might drop me. Then, he ran his finger along one of the holes in my jeans before he slipped his hand between the denim and my skin. “I see you wore jeans with bigger holes this time.”

I whimpered, pulling him back to me for another kiss. I dropped my legs further apart, rocking towards him when Wade cleared his throat on the other side of the room. I gasped, jumping back and trying to clamp my knees together. “I’m still in the house. Can’t you wait to fuck her until I leave?”

I buried my face against Graham’s chest, feeling warm and knowing it was turning bright red. “Fine, I’ll wait,” he grumbled, kissing me again before he helped me off the counter.

“I brought lunch,” I said, clearing my throat and reaching for the bag. Graham wiggled his eyebrows, and his eyes darkened. “I broughtfoodfor lunch.”

Graham laughed loudly. “Okay, fine. I’ll devour you later, then.”

“Oh dear lord,” Wade groaned, but I couldn’t help but think about Graham’s mouth on me. I pressed my legs together, grabbing one of the hamburgers and taking a large bite, watching Graham do the same thing. When he swallowed, he winked, and a rush of arousal pooled between my legs.

Chapter 17

Graham

“So you really like her,” Wade said, passing me my drill and tossing a loose screw into his toolbox.

I took the tool, setting it on top of the others and cocking my head to the side. “What?” I asked, looking back at the old drill he had handed me.

Wade rolled his eyes. “Chelsea. You really like her.”

I thought about her coming over today with lunch, about the way she danced excitedly when I showed her the bathroom tile that had taken me days to complete. I nodded. “Yeah, I do.”
