“In here, Steel,” I answer him without taking my eyes off Quinn as Bull moves past me to get her out of the handcuffs.

The guy that was sitting in here with her, Nathan, hands over the key he has so Bull doesn’t have to cut them off or anything else to hurt her.

“Why are you helpin’ my daughter?” Steel asks, glaring at the fucker where he stands.

“She’s a nice girl and told me some things I didn’t know about my father. I’m Nathan and I believe you’ve been looking for me,” he answers, a look of resignation on his face. “I’ll go with you or whatever you want to do. I put myself in this position by needing to help my mom out and using the man who will never acknowledge me to accomplish that. Quinn, don’t worry about me. They’ll do what they have to in order to protect you and the other women and kids in the club. It was nice spending time with you, I just wish it were under better circumstances.”

Before any of us can do anything else, Quinn screams out in pain and grabs her stomach as Steel and I rush to her side. In a matter of seconds the leggings she’s wearing are soaked through. I have no clue what the fuck is going on right now as I look at Quinn’s anguish filled face.

“Little princess, are you okay? What’s goin’ on right now?” Steel asks, his voice filled with worry and concern for his little girl as we both look on.

“Get the fuck outta my way. Quinn, are you okay?” Brick rushes out, his voice sounding from right behind me as he enters the room with us.

“I’ve been having contractions all day long I believe. And now, my water has broken. Maddox, it’s too early,” she says, tears filling her eyes as she looks up at me.

“Let’s fuckin’ go!” I yell out, bending down to lift my wife into my arms as Brick and Steel clear a path for us with Otter right behind me to make sure I don’t get tripped up and fall or something stupid. “Someone get a hold of Harley so she can get to the hospital.”

We all race down the stairs and out of the house. Brantley has moved the truck and vans closer to the house while we were inside taking care of business. He opens the back door of Otter’s truck while my best friend rushes to the driver’s seat and Steel jumps in the passenger seat. Brick hops in the backseat with me as I slide in with Quinn. I barely have time to close the door before Otter’s racing out of the yard in front of the house and toward town where we can get to the hospital.

I pull out my phone to call Doc and let her know what’s going on. There’s no way in hell I’m going to trust the obstetrician alone to take care of my wife and baby when it’s too early for them to be born. I want Doc there so I know everything is being done for my family. The second I get off the phone with her, I’m calling my dad.

“What’s goin’ on, Wicked?” he answers the phone, a lightness to his voice I haven’t heard in a long time.

“Long story short, Quinn was kidnapped. We just got her back and her water broke. We’re on the way to the hospital now. Dad, it’s too fuckin’ soon for her to have our baby. She’s still got two months left,” I tell him, fear filling my voice as I look down at Quinn where she cuddles into my body with her eyes closed.

“We’re on our way, son. Keep us updated and we’ll be there as soon as we can,” my dad says before hanging up the phone.

“Ah!” Quinn screams out as she tenses in my arms. “This fucking hurts so bad.”

“Breathe, baby. Don’t hold your breath when the contraction hits. Copy me. Take a deep breath in and let it out,” I tell her, not sure if I’m doing the right thing or not.

Steel turns around in his seat and keeps an eye on his daughter. He’s looking at his phone where I see a timer going. Quinn is panting and screaming for a solid minute before she slumps in my arms. Her entire body seems to relax as she closes her eyes once again and I look at the men in the truck with us.

“Her contractions are lastin’ a minute and they’re gettin’ closer,” Steel informs me, stopping his phone’s timer while looking at me.

“Otter, get movin’ faster,” Brick calls out, panic filling his face as he looks at his sister.

“I’m goin’, Brick,” Otter grits out as Steel’s phone rings.

He answers it and I know he’s talking to Harley based on his tone and what he’s saying. My focus is on Quinn as her body starts to go tense in my arms once again. I glance at Steel as he nods to say he’s seeing it too and will time her contraction while also noting the time between contractions. This is shit I didn’t even realize we were supposed to be doing. I’ve read all the books and every piece of information I’ve read seems to be flying out of my mind now that we’re in the moment and our son or daughter is about to make their entrance into the world.

“What’s gonna happen to Nathan?” Quinn asks me once the contraction is over with.

“Baby, that’s not somethin’ you need to worry about right now. Let’s just focus on our little one and gettin’ you both the help you need right now,” I tell her, not sure why she’s so concerned with this guy.

“No, I need to know what’s gonna happen with him. Please, Wicked. He didn’t hurt me and only wants to take care of his mom. All he did was sit in the room with me and we talked. He brought me in bottles of water and tried to feed me. I didn’t eat because I wasn’t about to trust they didn’t do something to the food. He even offered to eat some of it in front of me to see that nothing had been done to it. I want to make sure nothing happens to him because he’s not like the rest of the assholes that work for Horton. After what I told him, he can’t stand his dad,” my wife informs us as Brick pulls out her phone and makes a call of his own.

“Pullin’ up to the hospital now. Already see Doc waitin’ out front with a team,” Otter states as he pulls quickly into the parking lot and heads straight for the front door of the hospital.

Steel helps out before the truck even stops moving to open my door and help me out. We rush Quinn over to the gurney being held by Doc as the team of nurses with her surrounds my wife and we all rush inside. Doc is asking Quinn a ton of questions and I try to follow along with what’s happening, but everything is such a fucking blur right now. We’re all moving at such a fast pace as Brick and Steel remain at my side as we rush toward the delivery floor.

Once we’re up on the floor and in a room, Steel and Brick are told to wait outside the room so Quinn can get in a gown and hooked up to the monitors. I’m able to stay with her as I help her get changed while the only nurse to remain in here with us moves around the room getting everything they’ll need ready. With Quinn in her gown, I help her back into the hospital bed where she tries to get comfortable. She really can’t as another contraction hits her and she tries to contain the scream I know she wants to let fly. I hold her hand as she squeezes it so fucking hard. I didn’t know my wife possesses the strength she’s showing me right now. My hand feels as if it’s breaking in two.

After the nurse has her hooked up to the monitors and explains it allows us to see when she’s having a contraction and is monitoring the baby, she leaves the room. Doc comes back in a few minutes later to check Quinn. I guess it’s almost time for her to have the baby.

“Doc, she’s two months early. What are we lookin’ at here?” I ask, fear for my wife and baby filling me.

“It’s hard to tell, Wicked. It all depends on the baby and if we were wrong at all with how far along Quinn actually is. We’ll know more once the baby is born. I’m going to tell you now that if there are any signs of distress, we’ll be rushing her in for an emergency cesarean section to get the baby out immediately. I know this wasn’t your birthing plan, Quinn. But the baby has to be our first priority. Are you okay with that?” Doc questions my wife as Quinn looks at me.
