And I’m now remembering that my childhood wasn’t as perfect as I thought.

I sit up straight as Judas and Micah enter the room. Judas sets a big plate of food in front of me: spaghetti with meatballs, garlic bread, and a small salad, and Micah tosses two big bottles of water on the mattress. I grab one and chug half of it right away. I didn’t realize how much I’d taken something as simple as water for granted until I found myself in a position of not having it.

A part of me wants to thank them for it, but then I remember where I am, and I decide to keep my mouth shut.

I eye the plate warily. My stomach is hurting so badly from hunger pains, but what if there’s some kind of drug in here?

I’m already chained up. What would be the point in drugging me?

“Eat up, sweetheart,” Judas says with a devilish grin. “You’ll need your strength tomorrow.”

My stomach twists with nerves. “Tomorrow? Why? What’s happening?”

They don’t answer. As they leave the room, I push the plate aside and try to go after them, but the chain yanks me back.

“Wait!” Micah leans his head back inside the room. “What if I have to go to the bathroom?” I haven’t had to go yet, but I will if I keep chugging this water.

“Hold it,” Micah says simply, as if it’s such an easy thing to do in my position. “See you in the morning, little doe.”

Chapter 12

RAINE

I wakeup the next morning with a splitting headache, roiling nausea, and a bitter taste in my mouth.

So, theydiddrug me—to show me who’s in control—even though I’m literally chained to the wall.

I fumble blindly for the light switch, but my fingers just barely graze the string.

Shit. I’m going to throw up everywhere.

A few more seconds later, I’m finally able to turn the light on. I sigh in relief when I see a silver bucket by the door—I guess they decided they didn’t want me peeing myself after all—but the feeling quickly leaves because I’m not able to get up quick enough, and I end up vomiting all over myself.

Great. Now they’ll be pissed they have to clean me up.

Unless…

Maybe they’ll let me go to the bathroom. If they unchain me, I can make a run for it and try to find my way out of this fucking house.

The thought of possible freedom brings tears to my eyes.

I wipe my forehead with the back of my hand; there’s absolutely no circulation in this tiny room, so it doesn’t help that I’m drenched in sweat.

I don’t know how much time goes by before I hear the doorknob jiggling. I don’t bother sitting up this time; the room is starting to spin.

“Shit,” Micah hisses as he enters. He looks over his shoulder at Judas. “She’s sick. I told you not to put too much in her food, Dad.”

If I wasn’t mistaken, I’d swear he almost sounds concerned.

Judas, however, just waves a hand dismissively. “She’ll be fine.” He cuts an irritated look at me. “But it would have been nice if you’d have used the bucket. That’s what it was fucking for, sweetheart.”

I hate him. I hate the way he talks to me, the way he looks at me—

The way his lips felt on my aching pussy, the fact that he gave me the best orgasm of my life…

My toes curl of their own accord at the image of his handsome face between my legs, giving me so much pleasure—

I glare at him when he snaps his fingers in my face to get my attention.
