Coughing to make my presence known, I’m suddenly hit with four sets of eyes.
Liling turns to Anya. “I’m gonna head home.”
“I’ll walk you down.” Kai walks to Liling, with Tao trailing them, as they make their way to the exit.
He nods at me as they pass.
“The rest of you can head home as well,” she tells them, already knowing I have the building surrounded.
I rush over to my wife with purpose. She opens her mouth to speak.
“Nico—”
I grab the back of her neck and bring her to me, then slam my lips onto hers as she lets out a yelp. I lose myself in her putting everything I have into this kiss, giving her everything I am, lifting her onto the counter. After pulling away, I kiss a trail around her cheek, jaw, and eyelids, then back to her mouth. “You. Don’t. Fail,” I tell her between more kisses.
“But—”
“No. I promise I’ll let you talk and to listen, but I have to say this.” I take a deep breath before looking straight into her eyes. “This is my fault.”
She shakes her head, palming my cheek.
“Yes. I didn’t mean—well, it doesn’t matter because I shouldn’t have said it either way. I’ve let you down, and I’m sorry, Anya. I should have been listening this whole time and considered this was going to be an adjustment for you. I knew what you were saying, but I couldn’t break the habit. I’m a husband now. I’m yours, andthat’smy priority.”
“Nico, don’t be so hard on yourself. I can’t be your only priority. You’ve done so—”
Cupping her face in both my palms, I kiss her tears.
“I thought you said you’d let me talk,” she whispers against my lips, and I can feel the tug of her smile.
“You don’t owe me a thing. Everything I have is yours. I never should’ve pushed you. Do you remember what we said to each other the night before you took the Triad back?”
I’m not a good man. But I am a man of my word, and I made a vow to this woman. I’ll be damned if I ever go back on it.
She smiles shyly, a rare side of her, before rolling her eyes.
That’s my girl.
“I choose you,” she whispers.
“I choose you,” I repeat before kissing her again.
She pulls away, looking at me with hooded eyes. “You know, for a trained killer, you are a big cheese ball.”
“I’ll show you something big.”
She squeals when I pick her up bridal style as I take her to the bedroom.
I toss her onto the bed, and she lands on her hands and knees with a squeal. I slap her cute ass before unzipping her dress. She quickly shimmies out of it and turns onto her back to face me. Crawling up her body, I kiss every inch of her.
My wife lets out a sexy gasp, and I take her mouth to mine again, pressing her into the mattress. Her long dark hair spreads across the pillow, and I can’t wait to ruin it. She trails her small hands along my shoulders before taking my suit jacket and shirt off. I throw both to the side and undo my belt as she lies down, watching me. She rubs my erection with her foot, and I bite back a groan. Her lips part, cheeks flushed with arousal. She’s not wearing a bra.

I shrug the rest of my clothes off before crawling back on top of her. After taking one of her hard peaks into my mouth, I make my way to the other. Nipping, biting, sucking, and kissing until she’s quivering.
“Nico.” She sighs as she wraps her legs tighter around me and pushes her fingers through my hair.
