“Are you some sort of mind reader?” she jokes.

“Knock it off.” I hold her hands in place. “What else you got?”

“That was pretty much it.” She shrugs. “Nothing is set in stone. This isjustan idea.”

Nodding before pressing a kiss to her lips, I tell her, “It’s what I’d advise Bash to do.”

“So, it’s not a terrible one?”

“Tao’s job is to keep you alive. He can keep an eye on Grayson. Failure isn’t an option.”

“This could really work.” She looks at me excitedly.

“Keep this plan to yourself for now until we know more.”

“I know, big guy,” she tells me, patting his chest.

“When do you think you’ll see him again?”

She smiles. “I’ll pay him a visit at his gym tomorrow.”

Just as we settle back into the couch to continue the movie, my phone gets an alert.

“Shit.” I get up quickly. Anya jumps, too, and looks at me with pinched eyebrows. “I was able to locate who ordered the contract.”

“Really? How?” she asks as we both head to my office.

The computer in there is beefier and faster.

“I’ve been working on an automated software that could help us with our trade routes using coordinates and GIS. However, with a bit of recoding, I was able to configure the software to predict pathways an IP address can be rerouted and detected,” I explain as I dial Bash. I power up my computer as my wife sits next to me. The four screens come to life. “It won’t tell me exactly where, at least not yet. My program is still in its beta phase, but it can give me a general area and give us a hint.”

“Bash,” he answers, as if I didn’t know who I was calling.

“I got it,” I tell him.

“So, where did it come from?” Anya asks, scanning the monitor.

I look up at my wife. “Hong Kong.”

Neither Anya nor Bash respond.

She’s the one that breaks the silence.

“Hong Kong, as in . . . the 14K?”

The original Triad sanction in China. Also known as the 14K.

“Cazzo,”Fucking hell, Bash mutters.

“No offense, Nico, but you said this program is new. How accurate is this? The 14K hasn’t wanted anything to do with us since the fifties,” she argues.

“Pretty accurate, babe. Maybe they’re ready to unite the two,” I suggest.

“That doesn’t make any sense. Why would they go to Jimmy? That seems foolish.”

“Number of reasons. Could be testing your men,” Bash starts.

“Or sending you a warning. They had to have known I’d look into where the message originated,” I add.
