“What?”
He holds up his phone, and I come around to look at it, leaning on the front of the desk.
“They’re from Vicky.”
I flick through the photos.
“Harry’s got a jewel board. Or a map.” He breathes out.
Actually… “Send them to me? Maybe she’s found something that could help.”
“Done,” he says.
“Jac, we—” I stop. Now it’s my phone buzzing and also the burner’s.
I check hers, then mine. Then I send a text to Damon.
“So Damon traced the number Magdalena’s texting. It’s a bounced signal that ends in Siberia. Also, Harry texted her. Whoever is it wants the ring.”
“I’m texting Vicky to get more from Harry,” Jac says. “Any means necessary.”
I glare at him.
“What?” Jac gives me a look. “They’re fucking.”
I text the number as Magdalena.Working on it, assholes. I need the last piece.
“Let’s see if they respond,” I mutter.
Jac glances at his phone again. “Vicky said there was a fucking note slid under the shop’s roller gate.”
“Jac?” I peek at the computer screen and then back at him. “We are going to have to do something you won’t like.”
He gets to his feet. “Tell me.”
“Where’s Jac?” Cat asks an hour later as she comes into the study.
I finish the above board, legal work email, and then I shut down the email account and close the laptop.
“He had to do a thing.”
She looks at me, and fuck, does she look good wearing nothing but my work out T-shirt. “Did he? What was it?”
“Do I look like his keeper?” I say as she moves around, running her fingers over every single expensive item.
There’s art in here. They’re quality, originals, and even if I don’t think she’ll steal them, it is Cat. She needs to touch the pretty little things at least.
“No, you look like a man who wants company.”
I look at her as she comes around to my side of the desk, and I turn in the chair.
“I do?” I ask softly. “Or are you looking for your phone?”
She smiles. “You’re a little light fingered, Hendrick.”
“They texted.”
“They are stringing this out, but…what did they say?”
