I reach through the partition and grab his tie. “Then call fucking Carlos.”

“Let go.”

“Call. Carlos.”

“All right.” He pulls free and makes another call.

The big man comes down to meet me in a few minutes.

Embarrassment and pity’s on his face, and I wonder how many times has he done this before? Had to come out and deal with Jac’s leftovers. My stomach turns greasy as my face burns hot. “Where is he?”

“He’s not coming, Ms. Rossi. He said he wants to stay in the Quinate. And he hopes you have a good life.”

“Tell—” I stop. Then I take a breath and look up into Carlos’s eyes. “Tell him I know about the bet he made with Hendrick. And yes, I still love them both and can’t choose. I love them both equally. Please, Carlos, tell him that. I’m leaving because I can’t choose like they want me to. So… I won’t be back.”

He doesn’t say a word, so I decide I’ve suffered enough and turn to walk away.

“Ms Rossi?”

“Yes?”

Carlos comes up to me and bends his head. “How long…before you go?”

“Three days.”

“I know he loves you. Jac is…complicated. This is new for him. Hendrick might seem put together, but he’s just as lost. They both are, when it comes to you.”

“Do you think—”

“They’ll change their minds?” His smile is all sorts of sad. “They want what’s best, and they’re incredibly stubborn so no. I don’t. But I’ll pass the message on.”

“Calm down,” Harry says, “or you’ll blow a gasket.”

“For someone who needs to get out of town, you’re awfully calm.”

She comes up and pats my cheek, “Lena, babe, I don’t need to go.”

I glare. “Then why are you packing?

I’m sitting on her bed as she throws things in her wheely suitcase. “Because it’s you and me, chickadee. We deserve this, no?”

“No. I mean yes.”

She sighs and sits with her Cheeto print underwear. She really has strange taste in her undergarments. She’s got them all from lace and naughty to sweet, to practical, to novelty weird.

Harry folds them. “You’re the one who stopped me murdering them for you. How dare they throw you away like that.”

“What if they think this is for the best.”

“You could go to them,” she says before putting the panties in her bag, getting up, and handing me my drink.

“I’m not groveling. They gave me an ultimatum. And…it’s Jac and Hendrick. The baddest of the Quinate. It was clear they didn’t want me.”

“Both Carlos and Damon—”

“I know what they said.” I shouldn’t have told her, even going to their mansions was more than enough. “Being told they’re doing this for me is cowardly. Asshole fucking macho bullshit.”

“Maybe,” she says, sarcasm as heavy as her pour, “you should tell me how you feel. Let it out.”
