He lifts me into his arms. He pulls my hips up, and he drives into me one more time. I feel his cock erupting inside me, filling me with his hot semen.

I love that, too.

RENXEL

Mira is carrying the bouquet of flowers while my arms are occupied by fine Odex wine, a housewarming gift for what will likely be the most awkward dinner of my life. No parent likes to hear that they messed their kid up, but we need to confront the past before I can move into the future.

Likely sensing my nerves, Mira bumps my arm with her own. “Hey, it’ll be okay.”

I snort. “Yeah, well, you haven’t seen my mom when she’s mad.”

She rolls her eyes. “I work in customer service for a living. You would not believe the shit I’ve had to take with a smile on my face.”

“Well, if you’re ready, then…”

She grins. “In the words of a playwright from Earth, ‘once more unto the breach, dear friends.’”

Knocking on the door, I wait with a racing heart as we listen to movement inside my parents’ house. Finally, Mother opens the door with an uncharacteristically bright smile on her face and concern in her eyes.

"Mira, how are you doing? Renxel told me that you were kidnapped. Are you okay? What happened?”

Mira’s smile becomes more forced. Though I know this isn’t meant to be malicious, Mother has a habit of being overbearing when she’s worried. Finally, Mira answers.

“I’m doing okay, though still processing things, you know?” She shivers. “Do you have a vase where I can put these?”

Mother takes the hint, ushering us inside and calling for Father to grab a vase for the flowers. I grab some wine glasses from the kitchen and join the women in the living room near the roaring fireplace. Mira curls up against me as she talks amiably about things unrelated to the horrific trauma she’d just suffered.

Father emerges with a plate full of snacks, and I’m surprised by how pleasant everything is. If only things between me and my parents could be this nice all the time.

I open the bottle of wine and we each have a glass, lubricating the conversation even more. Mira has a talent for putting people at ease. That, along with the two glasses of wine, gives me enough courage to do what needs to be done.

As soon as there’s a lull in the conversation, I clear my throat. Mira takes my hand and gives it an encouraging squeeze as both parents look at me in a mixture of concern and confusion at the sudden change in atmosphere.

“There’s something I needed to talk to you about,” I say.

“Don’t tell me you got her pregnant already,” Mother says, and I can’t tell if it’s a joke or she’d be genuinely upset if I did.

“Nothing like that,” Mira cuts in quickly. “I think it might be a good idea, though, if you hear Renxel out before you say anything else.”

Mother’s eyes go steely while Father studies his hands. At best, this will be painfully awkward. At worst, this is going to be an epic, knock-down, drag-out fight. Can I go back to taking down kidnappers? It’s much easier than confronting my mother.

I finish my glass of wine in a final gulp and set it down.

“All my life, I’ve been terrified of finding my fated mate. Before Mira, I swore that I would never allow someone to have that kind of sway over me.”

Mother and Father exchange glances but respect Mira’s request and say nothing.

“Mother, I’m not going to mince words here. I saw the way you treated Father. He changed everything about himself over time to make you happy. You called the shots, and he withered. And because you were both fated, he just had to take it.”

Mother’s jaw drops, her eyes going wide. For a moment, she looks hurt, and then she’s furious.

“I don’t have to listen to this,” she says coldly, getting to her feet and stalking into the kitchen.

Father gets up to follow her, but Mira stops him. “Can I try talking to her, woman to woman?”

He nods, and Mira gets to her feet. Once they’re both gone, he turns to me. “I’m sorry.”
