The cabin we’re staying in to celebrate our mating ceremony is just one room with a huge Kiphian sized bed in front of the fire. It has an adequate kitchen. No table, just a counter for eating, or, er, consummating your mating ceremony as soon as you walk in the door.

“Do you think we should go on a hike today? It looks like the weather is finally clearing.”

We arrived in a rainstorm. It rained the whole first day. Once, just as I was climaxing during intercourse, a huge bolt of lightning hit nearby. The electricity in the air was intense. For a few seconds, I think I went blind and deaf. All I could do was feel. And there were no words to describe what I was feeling.

“I guess we should.” He opens up another cupboard and shuts it. “It is looking like a beautiful day.”

I get up, letting the blanket slide off me and walk over to him. I lean over and look out the window. It’s hard to see the sky from inside the house, as there are so many trees. But the little I can see is blue.

“Didn’t we have more food?”

“Over there.”

I point to the boxes we brought in but never unpacked. We haven’t had time, we keep getting sidetracked. Every word we speak is filled with innuendo. Even the slightest touch between us elicits a lust that must be satisfied as soon as possible.

Renxel picks up a box and brings it over to the counter.

“Did you pack this one?”

I shrug.

“Maybe.”

It doesn’t look familiar, but who cares about a box when he’s standing right there? He opens it up and pulls out an envelope.

To Renxel and Mira. I can read the words from here. “A wedding, I mean, mating gift?”

We must have brought it by mistake. We left the gifts in my cottage to open when we get home. I think about how long it might take us to open all of them if we keep getting distracted, and I giggle. Renxel is poking around in the box and frowning.

“What’s wrong?”

My mate sense tells me he’s confused, not angry or upset.

“It’s just food. Not a gift, I don’t think.” He opens up the envelope and opens a card. “It’s from my parents.”

He holds out the note to me.We hope you enjoy this on your vacation.

I smile and touch the word with my finger.

We have embarked on our own journey, and not just physically. Your love has reminded us that we were once young and, believe it or not, as much enamored with each other as you two are. We are going to try to find that again. As you know, with fated mates, anything is possible.

I look at my mate and slide into his arms for a hug. I don’t feel the irresistible pull of desire, and I can tell he doesn’t, either. This note from his parents has brought him more peace than he has ever known.

Also, they have been very generous with their provisions. We stuff ourselves and prepare for the hike. I have my own pack, a mating gift from Renxel, but he insists on carrying most of our supplies. My load is only a blanket and some snacks.

The temperature climbs as we do. We stop frequently. I’m grateful for the extra room in my pack when I stuff my jacket in. As the sun nears its peak, Renxel takes off his shirt.

“Not really fair.”

“What’s not fair?”

“You can go topless.”

“You could.”

“No!”

“There isn’t anyone around. Maybe a Great Garuch will fly overhead and see you. If so, you’ll have made his day.”
