“At least you realize that.”

“Well, I didn’t at the time. I just shot and killed him because I saw the opportunity. Unfortunately, the security camera also saw an opportunity to capture everything on film, and I was found guilty quite easily.” I sigh, shaking my head at how foolish I was back then. “And then I knew I had to hide all the wealth I had built.”

Kimberly frowns. She’s trying to figure out what I’m talking about, but she’s probably not going to come to the conclusion that I hid a chest underneath the house until I tell her.

But I’m getting to that. I have to tell the whole story for any of this to make sense.

“Alright, so after the warrants were issued and I was on the run, I knew I wasn’t going to get far, so I had to hide the money locally. I managed to convert some of it to gold and throw it down a well, but the rest was cash, and I needed a better place for it,” I continue. “So, I bought a large chest with a tight seal, dug up the ground in the basement, and buried it there where nobody would find it.”

Kimberly gasps. “You buried it undermybasement?”

A chuckle escapes my mouth. “No, darling. I buried it under my basement, but you found your way into the house.”

“I didn’t find my way in,” she replies with a scoff. “I bought the house, which mean, by extension, the chest is technically mine.”

I can’t hide a grin. “Maybe so, but you’re here, and I was already there today, digging up some buried treasure.”

She gasps. “Oh my God, Avraam! Is that why you were at my house when we met? You were just using me to get to your money?”

I sigh. I knew she wouldn’t be happy about this, but I need to convince her that my intentions have changed. I’m not trying to make her fall in love with me so that I can get the money from her house. I’m the one who has fallen in love, and it has nothing in the world to do with money.

“Tell me you didn’t just do all of this for money,” Kimberly pleads.

I take a quiet sip of my juice and set it down on the counter. I’m not sure why I bought it. Too sour.

“I didn’t,” I say, my voice firm and confident. “In the beginning, I was checking out the house, but I wasn’t expecting someone like you to be living there. You blew me away, Kimberly, and I knew I couldn’t be content with just the money. I needed to have you, too. Toclaimyou.”

She rubs her belly and laughs. “Well, you succeeded, so I hope you’re happy.”

“I’m overjoyed,” I reply. “Simply overjoyed.”

She blushes, and the soft pinkness of her cheeks coupled with the pout of her lips sends my heart into a tailspin. She’s perfect and she couldn’t even begin to understand why.

But I see it, and I need her now more than ever. I need to claim her again and again until we’re both too sore to walk tomorrow.

And then I’ll claim her again.

The silence in the room says everything. Even though I lied to her. Even though I ruined her job and destroyed her basement, there’s not even the slightest hint of anger from her. It’s all just love, the purest kind, the type that makes bad men good and good men great.

I don’t know where I stand in the little red leather book of morality, but I know where I stand in Kimberly’s heart.

And in her bed.

Kimberly

His lips are on mine, burning hot and hungry to prove his obsession with me. Even though we’re standing in the kitchen, it feels like we’re in paradise. The cold tile floor might as well be lush green grass, and my simple dress might as well be the most dazzling sheer gown.

Avraam is my hero, my god in the shape of a man, and he proves that to me as he runs his hands over my body. Every touch gives me chills. Every move sends waves of euphoria through me.

When I’m with Avraam, I feel complete.

And when he’s inside me, I feel like I can finally be the real me.

Uninhibited.

Raw.
