“Thank you,” I say, tugging the towel from her hands and wrapping it around my waist. “Now you don’t have to continue looking at my erection. Unless you want to, in which case we might be able to make a deal.”

I smirk as her expression spins between various emotions ranging from horrified to aroused. I know she’s fighting demons, but she wants to appear like she’s thoroughly disgusted with my behavior.

“You don’t have to answer,” I say with a wink. “We can talk about it later when my clothes are dry. You might not want me putting them back on.”

She crosses her arms, her pretty blue eyes rolling into the back of her head as she laments the peace she had before I arrived. “Once your clothes are done, you’re leaving. I didn’t allow you into my home so that you could prance around naked.”

“And yet, here I am,” I reply with a smirk.

“You couldnotbe here pretty fast if I called the police.”

There she goes, talking about the police again. She sure does know how to put a damper on the mood, but I’m sensing that her threats are empty. She’s tolerated a lot for a woman who claims to be fed up with me.

And I just love to push buttons.

“Are you sure you actually own this house and you’re not a squatter?” I ask, leaning against the wall and leering at her. “It might not be such a great move to call the police.”

“You’re a funny guy,” she replies sarcastically.

“Good in bed, too. Rich. Handsome. The full package.”

“I doubt several of those points, but go off,” she says, waving her hand dismissively.

“Which points? Name them.”

“Rich? You’ve already admitted that you’re homeless.”

“It’s complicated,” I reply, “and I can prove the other two.”

“You’re notthathandsome.”

The fact that she’s willing to imply that I’m handsome at all is a foot in the door. Give me an inch and I’ll stretch it into more than a mile. I’ll wrap that inch around the entire world and still have enough left over to fuck Kimberly with.

“I can prove the good in bed part, and the money part, too, if you give me long enough,” I say, trying my luck.

Her eyelids droop to a half-closed state of annoyance. “You have a might big ego for someone who is broke, ugly, and probably awful in bed.”

“Must not be true, then,” I reply with a smirk.

“I could throw you back out in the rain,” she suggests, pointing to the door.

“But you won’t.”

“But I could.”

I sigh. “Alright, let’s just wait for the clothes to be done, and I’ll be out of here. Truce?”

I hold out my hand, but she turns her nose up at it.

“Come on, you’re not actually angry with me, are you? Do you really thing I’m that bad of a guy?”

She shakes her head. “I’m not sure what to think of you, but so far it’s nothing good.”

“I can prove otherwise, but you’re going to have to give me a chance,” I say with a winning grin. “Let’s eat something and you can tell me what possessed you to buy a house in grizzly bear territory.”

Her pupils grow even bigger in terror. “Please tell me you’re joking.”

“I’m not. I used to live here. Unless they’ve cut down all the trees and flattened the mountains, there are some pretty big animals lurking around nearby.”
