“That’s it, baby. Go ahead and come for me,” he murmured, his breathing nearly matching my own.

“Oh God…” I fingered myself into oblivion, soon cresting over the edge with a throaty, lustful moan. I could hear his quick breaths before he let out another low growl that ended with an expelled breath. What in the world did I just do? Actually climaxing with a client? Maybe my hormones were all over the place due to everything that had been going on with Steve and I lately. Either way, it unnerved the fuck out of me for it to happen and for me to actually feel…good.

“That was good, Natasha. It turns me on to hear a woman come. Thank you for providing that for me,” he finally said. A small smile settled on my lips as I closed my eyes with a soft sigh.

“I’m glad I could do that for you. Thank you for calling Erotic Fantasies, Avery. Enjoy the rest of your evening,” I said, hanging up. Although I didn’t want to end the call, I had to break whatever hex he had on me. My chat with him triggered something inside me that I thought had been broken when Steve and I split. Desire. Of course it would be a stranger that probably lived nowhere near me to elicit such an emotion within me.

I turned my line off for the night and headed to the bathroom for a shower. Avery’s voice and words filled my mind as I lathered my body, goose bumps forming on my skin as I thought of him touching me. If I ever got the chance to talk to him again, I’d definitely tell him he should probably think about becoming a phone sex operator, too. The man definitely had a way with words that would make any woman come out of their clothes.

As soon as I stepped out of the bathroom, my cell phone rang from the living room, blaring Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” ringtone. Shit. I’d been avoiding my parents about the car accident thing and now it was time to face the music about it, especially since I’d need their help with the bill.

“Hello?” I asked, plopping back down on the couch.

“Ashton Delilah Carter! What on Earth were you thinking? You could’ve killed yourself!” my mother fussed into the phone. I sighed.

“I know, Mom, and I’m sorry. I wasn’t thinking and I let my emotions get the best of me,” I admitted. I honestly thought I was making progress with getting over Steve. I guess hearing about his new baby affected me more than I’d thought, simply because he was moving on so quickly while I still struggled with picking up the pieces.

“What in the world happened, Ashton? You’ve never done anything like this,” my mom finally said, her voice softening.

“Ava, Alex, and I went out and Steve and Clarissa were there. On top of them already being engaged, I’d learned that she’s also pregnant. I guess I took it a little hard,” I said softly.

My mother sighed. “Honey, I’m sorry. But just think of it as dodging a bullet. You’re so much better off without him. It seems like he’s causing more damage in your life and you aren’t even together anymore.”

“I can’t blame him for my actions. I knew better and now I have to pay for that. It’s just…I already owe him so much money and now this repair bill—”

“Honey, I really think you should move back home. You’re doing nothing but stressing yourself out right now. Once you’re all caught up and back on your feet, you can get your own place again. But you need help right now.”

“Mom, I’m a big girl now. I know you’re worried, but I’ll figure it out. I have a new job anyway,” I idly said.

“Oh really? That’s great, honey! Doing what?” she asked. I froze. There was no way in hell I could tell her that I was a phone sex operator. That would make for an awkward conversation anytime they’d ask me how work was going.

“Oh, um, it’s a customer service job. I can answer calls from home from customers,” I stammered.

“Oh, like a call center kind of thing?”

“Um yeah.” Yeah, something like that.

“Well, I’ll have to talk to your father about it and we’ll see what we can do. You should really think about moving back home, Ashton. But in the meantime, take care of yourself, okay?”

“I will, Mom. I love you.”

“I love you too, honey. Good night,” she said and hung up. I sighed. I definitely needed to get a roommate much sooner than later.

I open my email and saw that I had many responses to the ad I’d posted for a roommate. Maybe things were looking up.

I’d like to move in, but I have a pet snake. He’s always in his cage, so he’s not an issue. Hell no to snakes. Next.

OMG! Are you “A” from Pretty Little Liars? What the fuck? Of course not, psycho! If I were, I wouldn’t be posting for a damn roommate.

I went through the rest of the emails, my hope dwindling as each one turned out to be spam. Clicking on the last one, my hope was restored as I read the content of the email.

Interested in the room you have for rent. What’s the amount you’re looking to split and can you send pics of the place? New in town and definitely need a place ASAP. Thanks.

I hopped off the couch and snapped a few pictures, taking one of the living room, kitchen, bathroom, and the spare room they’d sleep in and attached them to the email. But how much did I want to split a month? My mind filtered through the necessary bills, many of which were overdue, and came up with a number.

Hey, here are the pics of the place. So the rent is $730, which would be $365 for you, water is included with the rent and the electric bill is no more than $110 a month, so you’d pay no more than $55 for your half. The cable and Internet bill is $190, so you’d only have to pay $95 for that. So you’re looking at $515 a month. You’d be responsible for buying your own groceries though. Hope that’s not a problem.

I sent the email and paced the floor. Hopefully all of the numbers I’d sent wouldn’t scare them away. My phone pinged with an alert a few minutes later.

That sounds good actually. It’s cheaper than what I’m paying for my hotel room a month. I got a copy of my background check from my boss and have proof of income and references. Do you have time to meet up tomorrow at the coffee place in town? I’m free on my break around noon.

I squealed with delight and hopped up and down. Hopefully they wouldn’t be a creep when I meet them tomorrow, but I’d have to drag Ava or Alex with me just in case. I shot them a quick reply to confirm. A small smile settled on my lips as I turned everything off in the apartment to head to bed. Tomorrow couldn’t come soon enough.
