Chapter Eleven

Ashton

As I ate my breakfast, my mind wandered, thinking of everything that had happened over the last couple of weeks. Who would’ve thought that a caller would turn into a real-life love interest? Talk about taking your work home with you. I definitely didn’t expect said caller to be my roommate, one that got under my skin but also set my soul on fire when he was near me. Just this morning, my intentions were to tell him that last night couldn’t happen again. He made me feel things that I’d nearly begged Steve to give me, but he never would. Each stroke O’Shea put upon my body was passionate, his gaze loving as he looked down at me.

The emotions I’d felt last night became so overwhelming that tears burned my eyes. It was the main reason I’d held him so close to me, praying he wouldn’t look into my eyes in case a tear happened to fall. This man did something terrifying to me and I didn’t know how to stop it. Even when I tried to voice my concerns on how last night could complicate things, I ended up lying on the kitchen island with his head between my thighs once again.

The way he’d kissed me before he left for work was sweet. If he was so sure of not jumping into a relationship, his actions didn’t tell me that. He held me so possessively, lingering longer than necessary as if he didn’t want to let me go. If I were being honest, I didn’t want him to leave either. From our talk about our exes a few nights ago and the fun we had at the arcade last night, I found myself growing to like him. I laughed to myself. Who would’ve thought I would’ve ended up liking the guy who called me a deer killer when we first met?

I stood up from the bar stool and stretched, smiling as a delicious soreness reminded me of the activities that took place last night and a few moments ago. My heart and mind were conflicted. My heart was tired of being lonely while my head tried to convince me that I was better off. O’Shea and I both agreed we weren’t looking for anything, but he made it clear that he didn’t really have any plans on stopping what we were doing.

And I didn’t disagree with him.

This man resurrected things within me that I thought I’d lost when Steve and I split. He made me feel sexy, a blush touching my cheeks as I remembered his heated gaze when he saw me in my lingerie last night. His passionate strokes, kisses, and tender words as he thrust inside me made my heart flutter in my chest. The fact that he’d chipped away a few of my barriers in the short amount of time he’d been here was daunting. I’d been able to stay out of the dating pool since my break-up, but something about him made me want to reconsider.

But I knew better.

There was no need to confess feelings for a man who wanted to play the field. I was still getting over my current heartbreak; I didn’t want to complicate things further with another one.

After putting my dishes in the dishwasher, I made my way to the bathroom and turned on the shower, letting the water pelt down on my skin. The hot spray felt good on my sore muscles. More images of O’Shea and I in the shower played through my mind, causing heat to pool between my legs.

I closed my eyes and leaned against the shower wall, stroking my clit and caressing my nipple as I thought of his tongue lapping at my juices, the showerhead spraying us both. My groan echoed off the shower walls as I slipped two fingers into my core, imagining his hard cock pumping into me while pinning me to the wall. The memory of his strong, toned muscles flexing beneath my hands as he moved within me sent a wave of desire surging through my body.

“O’Shea,” I whispered, moving my fingers quicker as my legs began to quiver. I gripped the shower railing, bracing myself for yet another orgasm as the tingling took over my body. It wasn’t as intense as it was when he caused it, but it would have to do. “O’Shea!

His name echoed off the shower tiles as I repeated it over and over in a whimper. A sudden bang on my front door startled me, nearly causing me to slip and fall in the tub. A wicked grin crossed my face. Ditching work because you can’t wait, huh, I pondered, turning the shower off and wrapping myself in a towel. I stepped out and walked to the door, not bothering to fully wrap myself in the towel. It wasn’t the mail because it was far too early for them to be here and I wasn’t expecting anyone else. Even my parents didn’t come out this early. I unlocked the door and yanked it open.

“Couldn’t get en—OH MY GOD!” I shrieked, scrambling to cover my naked body. Ava and Alex screamed and covered their eyes.

“Jesus, Ashton! What the hell?” Ava protested.

Alex laughed and waved her hand at me. “I know I like to joke around and proclaim my lesbian love for you, but this is a bit much,” she said.

“Wait here and let me put on something,” I said, slamming the door shut. Shit. This man was already knocking me off my game. I cursed him and myself under my breath as I hurried into my bedroom and pulled on shorts and a tank top. After gathering my wits and calming my racing heart, I went back to the front door and opened it.

“I’m really sorry about that, guys. I…I don’t know what I was thinking,” I said, palming my forehead.

“You thought your sexy roommate was coming back,” Alex teased. My eyes widened.

“What makes you think that?”

“We passed him on the way here,” Ava stated matter-of-factly. I shifted in my seat, shrugging while refusing to meet eye contact.

“Well, yeah. He lives here.”

“Oh, cut the bullshit, Ashton. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to put two and two together,” Alex said with a wave of her hand. “So how was it?” Alex bounced in her seat as she awaited my answer. It was hard to stop the blush that rose to my cheeks as I thought about the events of last night and this morning.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said nonchalantly.

“Well, something happened last night. You don’t usually answer the door damn near naked,” Ava said, in which Alex responded with an agreeing nod.

“We just had dinner and talked and stuff.”

“Right. So was he a good lay or what? Did you scream as loud as the lady that came over the first night?”

I diverted my eyes away from them and pulled my legs up to my chest. “Why are you guys here, anyhow?”

“Just wanted to make sure you were okay since we haven’t heard from you,” Ava said. I rolled my eyes and narrowed them at Alex.
