Her body was stunning, but it was truly her gorgeous face that held me captive. Big green eyes appraised me with a certain boldness. Her high cheekbones carried a soft blush, like there was a tiny part of her that was just a little embarrassed to be standing in front of me like this.

Ilikedthat.

Her lips curled into a tantalizing smile, her gaze a smoldering promise, and I swallowed hard.

Fucking hell, what was she trying to do to me? I knew this was a deliberate move on her part, and I didn’t even know the game.

I couldn’t be thinking these things. I was a loyal soul, and I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize that. I wouldn’t hurt him no matter what.

“Anastasia,” I offered first, my voice a bit stilted with my own desire.

She licked her lips and gave me a once over before she smiled in my direction, a coy expression on her face that drew me in despite the fact that I didn’t want it to. Her subtle breaths punctuated the space, her chest rising and falling in a hypnotic rhythm.

I shouldn’t be looking at my brother’s fiancé,not like this.

“I should go home,” she began and all at once, everything snapped into place. She bit her lower lip, a nervous tell that betrayed the courage she was trying to muster.

“You’re not going anywhere. You’re going to stay right here until I get back.”

Her eyes widened, reflecting a mixture of surprise and curiosity. I tried not to think about how adorable it was as I cleared my throat.

“Get back?” she asked softly.

“I’m going to rescue my brother,” I answered curtly. She didn’t need to know any more details than that.

Anastasia’s eyes flickered with indecision as she contemplated her options. “I could go back to my family,” she suggested boldly, her fingers absently fiddling with a strand of hair.

The little thing was trying to play me.

“Not a chance. The cartel will most certainly be targeting your father’s territory, his supply line, everything. That’s the last place you should be,” I replied, my voice firm.

Her brow furrowed as she considered my words. “What about the Morozovs. They’re your allies, right? They would protect me,” she argued, searching for reassurance.

I hesitated before answering. “No. The Morozovs have their own agenda. I don’t trust them with you.”

The truth was that I trusted no one but my family with her. She was too important.

Anastasia chewed her lower lip, clearly troubled by my responses. She had one more idea. “I could go to the police.”

I shook my head. “It’s likely the cartel has their hands in with the cops too. That’s not an option.”

She sighed, almost like she was a little bored. “So, what do you suggest I do, Caden?”

“You stay here. I’ll find Connor, and we’ll keep you safe. I won’t let anything happen to you.”

She gritted her teeth and crossed her arms over her chest, causing her sweet little cleavage to peak out from the parted fabric of my shirt. I swallowed hard and averted my eyes, only glancing back when I was certain that I’d gotten control of myself. I sat back in my chair, cocking my head in her direction to see what her next move might be.

“I’m not going to stay here,” she declared.

“Leaving is not an option, Anastasia,” I said, my voice more than firm this time.

Tension hung heavy in the air, and for a moment, I thought she might relent. But then, she squared her shoulders and her expression hardened. “I can’t, Caden. I can’t stay and ignore my family when they need me. You have to let me go.”

“No,” I replied.

“You can’t keep me prisoner,” she retorted, her lower lip protruding the tiniest bit in the most adorable little pout that made my cock rock fucking hard.

She’s your brother’s woman, not yours.
