A genuine smile touches my lips as I think of the perfect thing. Something that will help all of us together. Something I can share with my new family.

???

I return from the store with my arms full of bags because I refuse to make more than one trip. The second Laney sees me, she tries to grab some of them, but Havoc moves her and takes half for me.

They’re all in the living area, Akio and Adrian sitting on our huge, oversized couch we love to lounge on for hours at a time. It’s so comfortable and can be pushed together for all of us to be able to lay out and stretch.

They help me bring the bags to the kitchen, and as soon as they are set on the counter, Laney wraps her arms around me from behind.

“What’s all this?” she asks, kissing my shoulder.

“I talked to Dr. K. I was having a hard time, but I think this can help.”

Laney moves her body between me and the counter so she can look up into my eyes, her hands on my hips. I drop my head for a kiss because I just can’t help it. She’s so damn beautiful.

A contented sound leaves her as I pull back.

“What was that for?”

Kissing her forehead, I murmur, “Because I love you.”

Her whole body melts into me as Havoc starts removing things from the bags. He cracks up when he pulls out a one-thousand piece puzzle comprising of all different kinds of cat faces.

“What the fuck, brother?” He holds it up, and Laney laughs.

I spin her in my hold so that she’s facing Havoc and rest my chin on her head.

“When things would get hard in the past, Ma would buy complicated puzzles for us to do together. It helped us take time outside of our heads while also giving us a mental challenge.”

Taking out the other puzzles, she laughs at the concentration on Havoc’s face, keeping her body flush with mine.

“When I talked to Dr. K, she mentioned mental patience is helpful when struggling with my memories coming back, so I planned an evening for us.”

As Havoc starts removing the food, I swear he almost drools. There are at least five bottles of wine, all sorts of cheeses, which are Havoc’s weakness. And tons of cured meats that make me salivate.

Laney almost climbs across the counter when she sees the baked crackers I got from Italy. They’re easily her favorite snack foods, and if they’re ever not in stock in this house, she throws a fit.

However, the store has been sold out lately. I might have made a special call to threaten them to restock. The smile on her face is feral as she tears into the box and pulls out the thick, crunchy treat.

“You’re my favorite!”

Havoc looks at her incredulously while I crack up. He pulls her to him and bites her neck, whispering something in her ear that has her blushing.

For the first time since we fucked our girl in Damien’s sex club, I actually feel the happiness in my chest spread. There’s still a lot for me to process, but my family will always be there to help me, and I love that I get to share these good memories with them.

???

Akio is drunk, and Adrian is trying to hunt down the last piece of their puzzle, the one that Laney stole to prevent them from finishing first. Havoc was determined to get the cat puzzle by himself and is easily the most behind.

Laney and I have a very intricate unicorn we are working on. The rainbow is iridescent, making it hard to match the small pieces to the correct spots, but I know a few tricks and help her out when she gets stuck.

“I don’t have it,” Akio says when Adrian asks him again. “For all we know this bitch stole it so she could win.”

Akio points an accusing finger at Laney, and her mouth practically drops to the table. Havoc narrows his eyes at Akio, but I know my girl’s just messing with him.

“You did not just call me that!”

He laughs, swaying his hips.
