She smirked at him. “You going to keep your hands and dick to yourself?”

“Isaiah isn’t known for keeping anything to himself. You should stick with me. I’ll show you a real Tuisa gentleman.” The other guy, who had gone to get her a drink, walked up then, handing her the gin and tonic she had been craving, jokingly pushing Isaiah away from her.

She froze. “Who?”

Travis finally remembered his manners, throwing his arm around the hot stranger’s shoulders. “Bai, this is Isaiah. Theman has been non-stop about getting an introduction. Said your fate’s were strangled or some bullshit like that.”

Isaiah pulled her knuckles to his lips, kissing softly, his deep brown eyes never leaving hers, and her throat suddenly went dry.

“Entangled. I believe our fates are entangled. Ava said you were off-limits months ago, but I’ve never been able to resist a temptation as sweet as you. So, give a guy a chance?”

Her heart raced, and any thought of resistance fled her body as realization set in. She blushed, trying to smile off her sudden panic. He swept her onto the dance floor, a slow song enticing dozens of couples as well, and when he pulled her in close, she melted against him naturally. He was a fabulous dancer, leading her without effort, twirling her around, and whispering in her ear.

“Where would you like my hands now? Here? Or here?” One of his hands held hers, but the other moved from her upper back, then to her lower, teasing the boundaries. “Wouldn’t want any more injuries to our friend.”

“Our friend?” She murmured against his neck, the shock finally wearing off. He twirled her away for a moment, then pulled her in wildly. Her back was flush against his chest this time, his cheek to hers, and his nose nuzzled into the hair behind her ear briefly before rolling her back out.

“I’m a sharing kind of guy.”

“Mmmmh. I see. You’retheIsaiah? The same Isaiah who missed the weapons Ava carried and escorted her into Zhair’s bedroom last year? The same one who was so desperate to fuck a stranger that he broke every rule of his pack and could have gotten everyone killed? That Isaiah?”

Instead of being fazed, he didn’t miss a beat, merely smiled down at her and wiggled his eyebrows.“So, you can only imagine all the things I would dotoandforyou.”

“Thanks, but no thanks. I’m good.”

She laughed, but stepped away from him teasingly, leaving him on the dance floor watching her intensely. She needed to process this, needed to think, so she made her way to the bar. Just as she got the bartender’s attention, someone grabbed her arm, turning her to face them.

“You’re not going to save a dance for me? I’m hurt.”

With a squeal, she hugged Ava close, squeezing her until they both couldn’t breathe. “I’ll always have time for you, bestie.”

But when she pulled away, there was concern in Ava’s eyes. No, no, no. Not on her big day.

“Don’t look at me like that. I’m fine. I’ll be fine. Just ya know…the worst-case scenario is playing out. Everything I was worried about is true. No biggie.”She reached over to the bar, grabbing the neck of her favorite vodka, flashing the bartender a smile when she tossed the stopper onto his counter.

“For your newest AlphaLunaBossLady.” With a wink, she leaned her head back and poured a shot into her mouth, then Ava’s.

With a wave of Ava’s hand towards the DJ booth, the opening notes of ‘That’s My Best Friend’ came on, and Ava dragged her onto the dance floor, the bottle still in her hand. They sang at the top of their lungs and shook their ass together, hanging onto each other for dear life.

By the time the song was over, she had finished the bottle, mostly by herself, and she was feeling good. Ava gave her one last hug before disappearing with Makaii for the night, but she wasn’t alone for long. Keoni pulled her into his little group, and she forced herself to smile. One after the other, song after song, the overwhelming feeling that he was near, yet far somehow, sat at the edges of her consciousness. And despite pushing that feeling down, she couldn’t deny it. Instead, she tried to forget.

So, she grabbed the nearest body and kept dancing until she was looking up into the dark brown eyes of Isaiah once again. “Hello, beautiful. Can’t get enough?”

“Apparently not. You couldn’t find a single other woman in this place willing to dance with you?”

“No one that holds a candle to you.”

“Mmmh. Smooth talker, smooth dancer…what else are you smooth at?”

He didn’t answer her, only focused on her lips, as the last notes of the song dragged out. He slowed his movement, somehow pulling her closer, his hand sliding up her neck to cup her jaw. Leaning in, just before his lips touched hers, she turned her head, pulling away slightly and resting her head on his shoulder.

By then, she could finally relax, able to accept all this new information and feel at ease in his arms. She could do this. She could get through the night. She could let him distract her for a while.

Until she couldn’t. Without notice everything changed again. Her whole body tensed, and she was suddenly thankful he was there to hold on to. Her wolf jerked awake forcefully, instantly alert, and she panicked as her beast clawed and urged her to move across the room. The calm she had found during the dance with Isaiah rapidly escalated to full-on fear.

Isaiah wasn’t her mate. She knew that.

But now her mate was in the room and coming closer.
