“Smart-ass,” Jenna whispered to her husband. “Maybe we shouldn’t let her know you have a private jet just yet.”

Stroking his infant son’s back, Eric smiled his agreement. “We won’t be using it until I have it made child friendly…and burn some sage.”

Janie went back to her sundae, and Jenna laughed. Eric tipped his head close to hers. “Do you think we’re being ungrateful to turn down so many offers? There are a lot of people who would sell their souls to be in our position.”

Shrugging, she took her sleeping baby from her husband. Jenna reveled in the warmth and heady scent. “Everything we turn down just gives some new kid a chance to have a dressing room with a star on it.”

He amended her statement. “You mean a luxury trailer with theirnameon it, don’t you?”

She shrugged again. “I never wanted that trailer. I always wanted a dressing room, old and messy with costumes hanging on a coatrack…greasepaint littering a vanity table.”

“Do you want to go into theater?”

Jenna hugged her son tightly. “It was my first love. But I wouldn’t even consider it while the baby is so little.”

The jet cruised smoothly through the air as a flight attendant walked the aisle with a bottle of champagne. Eric and Jenna thanked him but waved away the offer.

“Inspired Artists would kill to have you back,” Eric said. “They have a New York office.”

“I know,” she admitted, wrinkling her nose as if embarrassed. “They’ve already asked if I would be interested in a revival ofSouth Pacific. It wouldn’t go into rehearsals till next year and it would be a limited run.”

“Sounds perfect.”

“Mmm.” A frown tugged at her mouth. “Revivals don’t always open cold. There may be out of town dates. I wouldn’t go without you and the kids; and I remember how—”

“How I flat out refused to go with you on your tour when we were married the first time?”

“Yes.”

Eric sighed a shame filled breath of regret. “I should have gone with you, but I was a kid and a sullen idiot. I thought I was being noble when all I was really being was unsupportive.” He looked at his love with tenderness and adoration in his eyes. “I’d follow you to the ends of the earth and back.”

Eric leaned close and rested his cheek against Jenna’s temple. Hewouldfollow her. Go wherever life took them. And if Broadway was where his beautiful and talented wife wanted to be, he would be right there, first row center, applauding and jumping from his seat to lead the standing ovation as she took the final bow.
